Munhall is a town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,895 at the 2010 census. The Munhall Historic District is a national historic district that includes 11 buildings and two streets in Munhall. The first permanent settler in what is now Munhall Township was Daniel Boone in 1784. Munhall became a borough on December 15, 1831 and was incorporated as a village on February 13, 1866. On May 1, 1907, it merged with the adjoining village of Fairfield to form the new city of Butler. On November 3rd of that year, the city boundaries were changed to include all of current Butler County except for the portion lying east of Interstate 81 and west of US 12/20 km² Munhall had its start as a small trading post near where present-day I-81 crosses the Susquehanna River. In 1825 John Dickson built one of Poland's earliest stores here at his farmstead which still stands today across from present day Main Street (now South Park Avenue). By 1830 there were over forty stores in operation throughout Butler County; all but six being located within one mile (one kilometer) or less of each other. Many traders went into business during this time because transportation was very difficult to obtain beyond Philadelphia or Pittsburgh without traveling through Maryland or Virginia! One such trader is mentioned by name – Augustus Kelley – in an early history article about Butler County written by Reverend James Fenton for "The Patriot" newspaper back when that journal existed monthly! It should be noted that even then education wasn't always easy to come by for many people living outside large towns so reading up on local events may have been part of Reverend Fenton's motivation for writing this article! In 1859 David Kirchhoff made his home hereabouts after moving from Bethlehem Township near Homestead PA several years earlier! He started an grocery store on Main Street which still stands today adjacent to the Administration Building now used as apartments (formerly known as “The Pinnacle” Hotel). This grocer/cafeteria remains one of only a few businesses open continuously since it opened its doors more than 150 years ago! His daughter Ella later established her own grocery store just northwest of Kirchhoff’s original establishment some time before her death in 1967; sadly it too closed its doors many years ago but fortunately most remnants remain including neon signs advertising its former days!). Next door on West State Street lived Isaac Sauer who ran another grocery store from about 1886 until his death in 1951!! Finally we have Frank Naylor who operated his shop directly across from Kirchhoff’soriginal building until 1961 when he moved away and sold everything including equipment to Newberry’s Pizza located down the street!!! Overall these are some notable businesses which once thrived within sight & reach OF EVERYONE IN BUTLER COUNTY!! Unfortunately not every business left behind an lasting legacy however due largely to modern technology no physical evidence exists remaining�!!!!!!!!! Oh well� maybe next time???

Munhall is a town in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first mention of Munhall was in 1692 when it was called "Muhlhall". In 1784, John Munhall founded a gristmill here and also started a sawmill and blacksmith shop. By 1800, the town had 7 homes and 30 people. In 1814, the United States Congress authorized the erection of a military post here to provide security for western Pennsylvania during the War of 1812. The posttown name reverted to Munhall in 1816 after Congress discontinued its use. In 1837, business interests in Munhall merged with those in York to form what would become known as the York Manufacturing Company. That company built mills throughout central Pennsylvania until it ceased operations in 1906 when an electrical plant was erected on Brownstown Road in Yorktown Heights which made it possible for that company's products to be marketed nationwide without having to go through Philadelphia or Baltimore. The current munhall PA high school building opened in 1963-64 and replaced an earlier structure which was damaged by wind turbines near downtown PA during Hurricane Andrew’s 2002 rampage as well as other storms over that period of time (2006-2010). The new high school is located on Main Street just east of Second Avenue where US 22 intersects PA 152/Main Street; across Second Avenue from First Presbyterian Church which operated as one block west prior to 2013 when this section became commercial property belonging to Bethlehem Steel Corporation before that company went bankrupt; across First Avenue from Third Presbyterian Church which operated next door prior to 2013 when this section became commercial property belonging to Bethlehem Steel Corporation before that company went bankrupt; and across Second Avenue from Fifth Street which served as one block south prior to 2013 when this section became commercial property belonging to Bethlehem Steel Corporation before that company went bankrupt all together forming what used once been known as “the heart of town” although most residents now refer simply as “munhall” due both geographic location and historical precedence given former name changes etc.). Just past Fourth Street on Third Avenue are remains of two other early mills – Mill No 4 & 5 (now home site of Paxton Township High School) – destroyed by fire about 1840? still burning today! This particular mill complex included four buildings: A Mill House (now private residence), Four Corners(now home site of Independence Day Celebration Committee), Five Corners(now home site OF Friendship Baptist Church),& Sixteenth & Seventeenth Streets fronting onto Market Square where many businesses were situated including Merchant Tailor Shop (later renamed Penn Valley Glass) Local General Store managed by Mrs A Hildebrandt who later ran into financial difficulty but kept store open until her death circa 1915 continuing operation until 1938 finally sold off along with much machinery - machinery consisting mostly 6 x 12 inch glass storefront windows letting light into interior - latter becoming house number 4 on present day Main Street between 2nd Ave./ Market Square/First Presbyterian Church & 3rd Ave./Friendship Baptist Church
