Munhall, PA is a small town in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The population was 3,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan Area. In 1874, Munhall had one store and three homes. By 1900, the population had grown to 10 people and two stores. However, economic development did not happen until after World War II when Munhall became a bedroom community for Pittsburgh. The first binoculars were made here in 1876 by George Fenton of Yorkville, PA who developed a new type of lens called an opera glass lens which corrected errors caused by astigmatism on smaller lenses used in telescopes at the time. Unfortunately during this time some people believed that binoculars could only be used by those wealthy enough to afford expensive telescopes so they stopped production in 1890 while others continued it until 1915! In 1915 Western Electric Company bought the patent from George Fenton for $1 million and resumed production of binoculars with new lenses and design which became known as "Edwards" optics because their founder Edward Edwards worked on this project with them! This allowed local businesses such as Woolworth's Department Store to begin selling Binoculars again but it wasn't until 1924 when Bakewell-Robinson Optical Company (B-R) also began producing binoculars here! This company continued makingbinoculars until 1957 when they merged into Leupold & Whyte Corporation which still produces Binocular products today! Interestingly enough most of these original companies actually left Munhall behind once divisional headquarters moved to Plainfield NJ where all optical businesses now are operated under one roof!

On October 4, 1795, a group of men from Munhall founded the town of Munhall in what is now Pennsylvania. The town was named for Captain John Munhall who negotiated the purchase of land in what is now Gettysburg. On November 1, 1795, the first meeting of the Township Council was held at which it voted to name the town after Captain Munhall.
Munhall is a small town in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,903 at the 2010 census. Munhall was founded in 1781 by the Potters and others who moved from Newtown in Montgomery County. The name Munhall is derived from the Monongahela River which flows through the town. The first white settler in Munhall was John Potters, who arrived in 1781. Other early residents included Jacob Mifflin and his family and Rev. George Stephenson, who built a log cabin on what is now Main Street in 1802. A store and post office were established here in 1810; both remain extant today as part of the town's history. In 1811, a schoolhouse and graveyard were also built here. In 1840, property east of what is now Main Street were sold to James Ritchie for $2,000 cash considerations; this area became known as "Ritchie's Woods". Two years later, however, when Ritchie donated land to build an academy (now York College), he changed the name of that academy to Munhall Academy; it still exists today as one of Pennsylvania's largest private universities. In 1861-1862 during the American Civil War (the war between north and south), Munhall served as an encampment for Union soldiers near Slippery Rock Rapids on the Monongahela River. When World War II began on September 2nd 1939 - two days after Nazi Germany invaded Poland - many people living within easy reach of military installations fled their homes for fear that they would be drafted into service; some of these refugees found new homes within Munhall limits over time (e.g., Harry Houdini lived at 515 Main Street until his death). After World War II ended with Japan's surrender on September 2nd 1945 - exactly one year after Japan had occupied Korea - many Japanese citizens brought their families back home to America; among these repatriated individuals were Katsuo Matsubara (later president of Panasonic Corporation) and his wife Akiko Matsubara (née Miyazaki). After her husband died suddenly while visiting family members near Pittsburgh three decades later, Akiko Matsubara dedicated herself full-time to helping care for her son Katsuo's fragile health following his stroke while accompanying him there on business several weeks prior to his death in 1984; she has since continued this work throughout her life outside of Japan where she currently lives with her son David Jonson matsubara Jr.. Munhall was first settled in 1776 and formed part of the borough of Wilkes-Barre. The town was chartered in 1854 and named for Thomas Munhall, an early settler. Munhall has a history that goes back to early days when it was a part of the borough of Wilkes-Barre. In 1776, Munhall was founded on land donated by Mr. James Shaffer and his wife Rebecca Richardson as part of a grant they received from King George III in response to their petition for independence from Great Britain. The borough seat changed hands many times over its lifetime; it first went to Manchester before being moved to Wilkes-Barre in 1854. The town’s earliest buildings were built around 1800 by settlers who arrived during the American Revolution or after it began. One such structure is the old courthouse which still stands today and can be seen from Route 22 near where it once stood (but no longer functions). Other early residents included John Breslin and his family who erected an gristmill on what is now known as Union Avenue in 1802; later that year they also founded the first school in Munhall – located on present day Main Street – which functioned until 1840 when another school opened on Second Street. In 1851, following the Panicof1849, much of rural Lackawanna County declined along with many other Western Pennsylvania towns due to high levels of debt incurred during the difficult period known as “the Great Famine” – conditions that remained largely unchanged into the 20th century. However, despite this Schwenkfelder brothers saw mills start up again all throughout Lackawanna County beginning with one located just outside Munhall proper on Front Street – soon becoming one of largest mills east of Pittsburgh but closed down during World War I because so much lumber had been cut down for military purposes across America during those years). This mill became known as Shaffer’s Mills and continues operate today as Swenkfelder Lumber Company (formerly Eastern Lumber Company). This milling industry returned to full swing by 1920 with interest rates hovering around 20 percent above market averages thanks largely to innovations brought about by International Harvester Company president Eliot Ness – inventor/founder/inventor behind not only tractors but also giant air compressors that made farming possible across large areas OF eastern Pennsylvania postwarAmerica) . With interests piqued by new technology , two local men decided to open their own business: J H Muhlenberg & Sons Tobacco Merchants Incorporated began manufacturing cigars right hereabouts; continuing operations until 1984 when ownership passed into public hands In 1924 construction started on what would become Scranton–Wilkes-Barre Airport; initially serving only military personnel stationed nearby but eventually opening up shop for civilians too starting with commercial flights withinPennsylvania beginning in 1945 Today Munhall remains an agricultural community bordered by quarries closeby while downtown features several small businesses including a library (opened 1969), post office (1905), bank (1914), doctor’s office(1985), restaurant (now defunct) - among others-. Munhall, Pennsylvania was a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania before the arrival of the railroad. The first settlers were German Protestants who arrived around 1800. The area that is now Munhall was forested and hunting was a common pastime. In 1834, James White developed a cattle business in what is now Munhall. In 1839, he built the first brick building in what is today Munhall. The town of Munhall began to take form when people from nearby settlements came to trade goods with White and his rancho. By 1840, there were over 100 residents inmunhall and it had a post office and school. The establishment of railroads brought new residents to munhall and during the late 19th century, factories sprang up throughout Butler County to provide jobs for workers. However, by World War I, munhall had shrunk back to its original population of about 50 residents due to industrialization and environmental degradation. After World War II, economic hardship led to a decline in industry in Butler County while large-scale migration into other states created an influx of new citizens into mun hall which began anew as a smalltown following the end of World War II. In 1968, the community erected a large aluminum statue honoring local icons such as former Mayor Ed McMahon (1924-2005) and physician Drs John Prentice (1880-1964) on Main Street near where they lived until their deaths decades earlier
