Munhall is one of the oldest towns in America and has been inhabited by Native Americans for over 350 years. The first ammunition batch created in Munhall was powder and shot designed to be used by the local militia to quench their thirst for revenge on Indians who had killed several white settlers. Ammunition production began in 1824 as part of an effort to create a munitions industry in what was then frontier America. By 1840, munhall had become one of the leading centers for ammunition production in North America. During World War II, Munhall became known as the "Arsenal of Democracy" because it produced many millions of rounds of ammunition for soldiers fighting abroad. In 2007, the munhall library closed because its budget had been cut $1 million due to statewide austerity measures passed during the Great Recession. It reopened under new management less than two months later with help from members of the community who collected items donated by friends and family to fill up shelves once again

American troops were particularly successful at using AP rounds against German tanks during Operation Overlord (9/19/1945). This victory marked the end of World War 2 for both sides and helped pave the way for future conflicts such as Vietnam and Iraq. Munhall is a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. Munhall was founded in 1798 by the Susquehanna Company of traders. The name "Munhall" means "place of the bear." The first store in town was built on the corner of Market and Second Streets. It was operated by David Hargrave from 1814 to 1820 and by his son-in-law, Solomon Hamlin. In 1830, Samuel Morse came to Munhall and started a printing press there. In 1836, John Kline bought the store from David Hargrave and continued to run it until his death in 1853. He was succeeded by his son-in-law Hiram Kline. From 1840 to 1850, Munhall had a post office with three different ZIP Codes: 16801-16807. On July 1, 1861, it became part of Butler County when it was created from parts of Lawrence County. In 1870, Edward Fenton purchased the store from Hiram Kline and continued to operate it until his death in 1902. He was succeeded by his son George Fenton Jr., who sold the business to Averill Harriman in 1924. Harriman kept it running as an independently owned shop until he closed it down in 1969 due to financial problems. The business reopened under new ownership two years later but went out of business again in 1973 after becoming embroiled in a dispute with another local retailer over pricing changes which they felt were unfair). In 1986, munhall's only remaining building - an original one-story wood frame cottage - been moved into its current location at 5th Street & Market Place (formerly 3rd Street & Market Place) after being restored and added onto over time through donations and fundraising drives sponsored by various community organizations including Habitat for Humanity International). The township was organized in 1836 and named for John Munhall, a Revolutionary War soldier from Pennsylvania. The population of Munhall increased rapidly during the 19th century; it grew to over 1,500 residents by 1860. However, during World War I the population decreased as many people left for military duty. During World War II, Munhall again experienced an increase in population; however, due to industrialization and its negative impact on jobs and social life, the town declined by the early 21st century. In 2016, Munhall had a population of just under 100 residents.
