Meadville is a small town in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, United States. Meadville is located on the north side of the Schuylkill River and it covers an area of just over one square mile. The population was 2,858 at the 2010 census. Meadville was founded in 1795 by John Mead and his family. It served as a stop on the Underground Railroad. When Meadville was first settled, there were no roads or railsroads in the area so transportation was by foot or horseback. In 1827, a wagon road connecting Philadelphia and Pittsburgh was built through Meadville. This helped to increase commerce in the community and make it more accessible for farmers and traders. Today, Meadville still relies heavily on walking and biking to get around its community – making it one of the most environmentally friendly communities in Pennsylvania!

Meadville is a small town in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,754 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh–Wilkes-Barre metropolitan area. Meadville is located on the south bank of the Allegheny River and about 15 miles east of Pittsburgh. The community was founded in 1792 by Rev. John Mead and his wife Sarah Appleton Mead. The first school was built in 1812, and the first store opened in 1814. In 1827, Reverend Mead donated land to build a Presbyterian church, which became known as First Presbyterian Church of Meadville (now Stroudsburg Presbyterian). In 1850, Reverend Mead donated land to build a courthouse and jail; this building now houses the borough hall. Meadville's post office operated from 1818 to 1865; it was renamed Wilkes-Barre in 1865. From 1870 until 1978, it was also served by Second Union Station (now Conshohocken Railroad Station), which is now within the bounds of Duquesne University's Mellon Institute for Arts and Sciences campus.. The borough name originated with its founder John Meadsgarth who named it after himself and his family's home village near Perth Amboy, New Jersey where he had been born in 1792: "Meadughvilles" meaning "site on which milk has been derived." In 1930–1931 there were two dances held at White Sands Race Course between members of local high schools — one for girls only and one for boys only — both sanctioned by state officials as part of interscholastic fair competition among Area High Schools then organized through PA State Board Of Education guidelines under Governor James Muhlenberg's earlier Executive Order No., No.: 231 dated February 6th 1930 entitled "Dances For All School Groups". George Washington Carver Elementary School students from Northumberland Township attended these dances as well as other activities sponsored by their respective school districts during that year including Model United Nations contests being staged throughout all 3 counties... These events are documented herein along side photos/ paintings from those years displaying what life must have been like back then when so much still remains today compared to today’s lifestyles! According to 2015 Census data out of 1,754 people living in Meadville according to 2010 US Census data only 710 identify themselves as white while 856 identifying themselves as black or African American make up almost half of all residents making them an even minority percentage when compared to surrounding townships with either over 98% White Residents or 100% Black Residents

Meadville was founded in 1795 by Michael Mead and his brother, Nicholas. The Mead family had a strong interest in agriculture and became the first landowning family to settle in what is now Meadville. By 1800, they had acquired over 2,000 acres of land and started to grow corn, wheat, and other crops. In 1814, they erected a log cabin on the current site of the city. Michael Mead died in 1838 and his wife Catherine took over thefarmstead. They raised cows and pigs until their death in 1872. The City of Meadville was established in 1889 when it was annexed by Philadelphia. Today, Meadville is home to many businesses including two hospitals, four schools (one elementary/middle school), two libraries (onepublic/One private), three parks & one zoo.
