In 1876, Pennsylvania's first photofinishing business was opened by George F. McIntyre in Mckeesport. The business continued to operate until the early 1900s and produced a wide variety of photographic products including glass negatives, photosensitive paper, and printing plates. In 1903, the company was sold to Charles Haddon and his son Harry C. Haddon Jr. The company operated as Haddon-Mckee Printing Company until 1935 when it was merged with Philadelphia Camera Works to form the Philadelphia Camera Company Ltd.
Mckeesport is a town in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 10,531 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia–Camden–Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name Mckeesport comes from an early settler named John McKeesport and his family. The current community began to form in 1836 when the railroads arrived in the area. The first settlers were farmers who grew corn and beans on their own land and raised poultry for their eggs and meat. By 1840, a group of men from Lancaster Township had formed a company to build a railway through Lehigh Valley called the Lehigh Central Railroad Company Ltd., which built tracks between Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Allentown, Pennsylvania (now Reading). That same year, John McKeesport sold his interest in the company to another member of his family, James Braidwood III. By 1845, over 50 families had joined forces to form "The McKeesports", including 11 children of John McKeesPORT Sr.. In 1846 (the same year as Andrew Johnson became President), they erected a small log cabin near present-day Watertown for themselves and their families. In 1850 John Mckenzie purchased 100 acres (40 hectares) along Aliquippa Creek where he founded what is now known as Mckee's Mills - one of the largest textile mills west of Allegheny Mountains after being started by brother-in-law Dorney Smith & Sons back in 1848 with looms made from horse hair that were plied with water power until 1865 when steam powered looms replaced them.

Mckeesport is a town in Union County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 11,924 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first settler in Mckeesport was John McKeehan in 1786. The town of McKeesport was founded by Samuel Proctor and others in 1800. In 1814, it became the capital of the new Carbonate District and remained that way until 1839 when it became part of Allegheny County. In 1863, General Ulysses S. Grant's army invaded Maryland and entered into Pennsylvania as part of the Gettysburg Campaign; they soon left to march on Philadelphia. General Robert Ewing's cavalry had been deployed against these invaders near Monmouth Junction (now Aliquippa), but they were easily defeated and scattered without losing any men or equipment; this event is known as "theacking." On July 4th 1865, after many days of fighting, General George Meade's Union army reached Philadelphia and captured it from Confederate forces under Robert Ewing at Gettysburg; thus ended much conflict in eastern Pennsylvania during the American Civil War. From 1870 to 1890, McKeesport grew rapidly due to its position as an entrepôt for western coal shipments arriving by rail through Carnegie Steel Company mines along the anthracite coal fields of Westmoreland County; this growth caused two large fires which destroyed most buildings not rebuilt within a few years: one burned down 1895-1896 with a destructive force that destroyed 1/3rd of all business blocks on Main Street alone; another fire resulted from an overloading incident at a steel works in 1916 which badly damaged adjacent homes but did not cause any loss to McKeesport businesses In 1926-1927 McKeesport annexed what is now Beaver Township which lay northwest of its current boundaries
The town of Mckeesport was founded in 1784 by John McKees, who named it for his father. The first house in the town was built by Robert McKees. The first store in the town was built by James Stewart. In 1812, David Brown started a gristmill in the town and soon afterward began to grow hay and oats. In 1815, James Brown Jr., became owner of the gristmill and combined it with his father's land to form the largest farm in Mckeesport Township. In 1826, John McKees donated land to build a school in Mckeesport township. The first school building was built on what is now Main Street. In 1840-41, Alexander McMillin started a blacksmith shop in the town and also began to grow corn and potatoes. He also ran a bakery which later became known as the "McKeese Bakery." In 1853-54, Elijah Goode replaced Alexander McMillin as head of the Blacksmith Shop in Mckeeatesport Township because he could not continue business due to an illness that had struck him while working at home. Elijah Goode operated this shop until 1870 when he moved it to Albion Mills where it continued operations until 1951 when it closed its doors for good. During Goode's ownership of the Blacksmith Shop, much important development took place within Mckeeatesport Township including: construction of bridges over Big Sandy Creek (1853), Grange School (1856), Masonic Temple (1860), Presbyterian Church (1862), Courts House (1868-69) and Frame Factory No 5 & 6 (1871). In 1865-66, John Pritchard purchased land from David Brown Sr.'s estate near present day Ewing Avenue and began wheat farming thereon. After purchasing additional land around 1915-16 he founded Pritchard Farms which today includes over 100 acres of farmland covering several villages including Sherwood Park; Nanticoke; Midland; Belle Vernon; East Palestine; Bloomfield Hills; Monroeville; White Marsh HeightsVillages northwest of Pittsburgh proper including many subdivisions - all located within one short radius of Pittsburgh’s central business district or IBD - making Pritchard Farms one ofPittsburgh’s most extensive agricultural holdings ever developed
