Gun slings have a long and varied history in Mckeesport, Pennsylvania. The first gun sling was made by an Englishman named John Latham in 1786. It consisted of a small piece of wood with a wire attached to one end and a strap around the other. The sling was used to shoot arrows from a bow. Gun slings were also used as targets for shooting practice. In 1868, an American engineer named George Stephenson developed the first practicalmodern gun sling. It consisted of two pieces of metal, one around the other, with a web between them. This invention allowed people to carry guns more comfortably and Shoot more accurately than ever before. Gun slings were also used as part of military campaigns during the Civil War. During the battle of Gettysburg, Union General George Meade ordered his troops to fire over their shoulder at Confederate General Robert Ewell's horsemen trying to flee the battlefield. Becausegun slings could be fired from any direction, this caused great carnage among both armies.

Mckeesport, Pennsylvania is a town in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 9,521 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Mckeesport were French and Indian traders who camped on the Monongahela River in 1718. The area was originally called Northampton Township because it lay north of the then present-day town of Scranton. In 1782, a group of Yankees under General George Washington located on the west bank of the Monongahela River named their new county after General James McKean's brother-in-law and future Ulysses S. Grant's father (and also one of Washington's aides). This county included much of what is now Lackawanna County and part of York County today. What is now Mckeesport was laid out in 1812 by John Dupleix as an agricultural township for his landowning family. Dupleix had come to America from France with his family in 1807 via Liverpool and arrived in America where he became a landowner and developer in Western Pennsylvania. As early as 1810 he had sent £50 to Sir Robert Peel to help fund British plans for annexation into Canada; this donation would later be known as "the Donation" or "the Peel Donation". The Township Act of 1813 granted township status to certain townships within western Pennsylvania including that which became McDkeysport. In 1850, when Lancaster County was created from parts of Westmoreland and Cumberland Counties, McFeesport became part of Lancaster County along with other rural communities such as Wilkinsburg (now Pittston), Allentown (now Bethlehem), Easton (now Reading) and Unicoi Junction (just outside unincorporated Scranton). At that time there were only 10 residents living within limits formed by McCleesport’s jurisdiction: five farmers & five mechanics/shopkeepers (& their families). By 1860 there were over 100 residents living within its boundaries! The opening up of the American Midwest during the late 1800s led to an increase in business opportunities for milliners and lacemakers throughout eastern PA especially around Pittsburgh but also into western New York state where schemes were hatched for connecting anthracite coal mines with Erie Canal traffic – this scheme failed due to economic reasons however similar ideas did take form later on across Pennsylvania including Altoona which formed Susquehanna Railroad Company Incorporation.). However starting around 1830 lacemaking began disappearing from eastern PA primarily due to competition from manufactured goods items produced locally such as machine lace done using skills learned duringRevolutionary War times etc.. until about 1840 when women started enteringprising themselves becoming lacemakers again using traditional methods like knitting & crocheting materials obtained through purchase or exchange with friends or villagers etc.. post haste machine lace came onto the scene although it wasn't until 1870 that machines started becoming available commercially capable OF producing high quality commercial lace products like those made by Burdett Silk Mill near Harrisburg.) With increasing demand came increased production costs so mills closed down leaving many womenateliers with few options remaining open while men continued working long hours 14+ years without any benefits or protection under labor laws) finally achieving just legal rights & parity wage rates w/ men starting WW1) eventually leading some men outta shoplifting “night work” altogether!). With rising prices women found themselves forced into more profitable activities such as domestic services instead.,although aspects thereof have survived thruout history!) Today McFeesport features several tourist attractions giving visitors an insight into its rich historical roots including local cheesemaking industry plus numerous other interesting things about its people e g Oldways House Museum containing Revolutionary War memorabilia), Forge Shop which operated between 1795 - 1900 providing accessorial wear for judges during criminal trials etc.), Light Rail Train Station which opened July 2009 serving McFeesports surrounding community making it easily accessible despite distance!

Mckeesport is a town in McKeansport County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,835 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.
The first European settlers in what is now Mckeesport were Nicholas and Anne Koury who arrived from Hungary in 1681. They built a log cabin on the east side of the Susquehanna River. The Kourys had two children, Nicholas and his sister Rebecca who also married and raised eight children there before going off to live in Radnor Township where they operated a gristmill until 1817 when they moved to this area and started the mill which still stands today.
In 1827 John Leland bought 50 acres (200 ha) of land grants from George Washington Smith at Shamokin as part of his purchase of all the lands west of Allegheny River that would become Mckeesport Township. He named it after himself, John Leland

It is part of the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlement in what is now Mckeesport was made by John and Susannah Snyders on January 24, 1797 when they built a small log cabin on the Standing Rock Creek near present day White Sands Lake. The Snyders were pioneer farmers and also early settlers of what would become Lackawanna County. They were among the first to arrive after General George Washington's army invaded North America in 1776. Their cabin still stands today and can be seen from State Route 62 just outside of Mckee'sport. In 1812, Captain James Kapp established a trading post along the creek which became known as Kapp's Landing or Kapp's Station. By 1830, there were over twenty businesses in Mckeesport with over $10,000 worth of trade conducted annually by traders from all over Europe and America. In 1836, John Dickson founded the first paper mill in what is now Mckeesport when he began producing newspapers for local newspapers such as the "Lackawanna Gazette" and "Scranton Patriot". The mills continued to operate until 1947 when they were destroyed by fire. In 1870s McKeesport had about 375 residents with around $5 million worth of commerce conducted each year according to local historian Harry Wirthman Jr.. That decade saw many advances in transportation including construction of roads that connected Scranton with Philadelphia through Mechanicsburg; this new highway allowed goods to be shipped directly fromPhiladelphia without having to go through Liverpool or Manchester en route to New York City or Baltimore). In 1900s McKeesports population declined precipitously due mainly to immigration from Eastern European countries such as Poland which increased crime rates among its citizens; however this trend reversed beginning in the 1960s when more people came back into McKeesorto escape social unrest throughout their home countries during Prime Minister Golda Meir's tenure as Israel's president (this Immigration also helped spur economic development within McKeesportingomarital area)). With its declining population has come an increase in crime rate within its limits – currently it ranks fourth most dangerous town within Lackawanna County for both individuals and vehicular traffic according to 2016 FBI statistics). However recent efforts have been made by city officials (including Mayor Donald Jaffe) aimed at reversing some trends dating back several years while also creating new opportunities for business development within McCkeesports boundaries
