Lower Burrell was a small, unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located on the left bank of the Susquehanna River east of Reading. The community had a post office from 1847 to 1951. Lower Burrell was named for James Lower, an early settler in the area.

Lower Burrell was a small town in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 581 at the 2010 census. As of the census of 2000, there were 585 people in Lower Burrell. The village had a total area of 23 acres (11 hectares). The first settlers in this area were James and Sarah Henshaw who arrived in 1798. They built their home on the land they acquired from John Armstrong and his family that had been forced to leave Bethlehem by the British during the American Revolution. James and Sarah's son Jacob used his inheritance to purchase more property and began to build huts for himself and his family around 1801-1802. In 1807, John Bemis bought some additional land from James Henshaw and started to build a farmstead known as Big Spring House which still stands today. In 1810, another pioneer named George Jones purchased some additional land from Bemis and built a cabin known as Mount Pleasant Cabin which is still standing today. From these initial beginnings, Lower Burrell slowly grew into what it is today with its own businesses, churches, schools and residentships. In 1916-1917 Lower Burrell also saw its first post office opened when David White opened up his business on Main Street which continued until 1951 when it was replaced by UpperBurrell Post Office under current name of LowerBurrell Township post office
