Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania is a small town located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,872 at the 2000 census. As of the 2010 census, it had 6,711 people. Lower Burrell is part of the Philadelphia Metro Area. It is also part of the Harrisburg-Carlisle-Yorktown metropolitan area. The name "Burrell" derives from John Burke who settled in what is now Lower Burrell in 1751. The first store in Lower Burrell was built by Solomon Chettle in 1824 and operated until 1832. The first school was opened in 1827 and continued to be operated until 1868 when it became a day school under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church. At one time there were five miles (8 km) of track between Upper and Lower Burrell with a daily freight train running to Carlisle for ballast and goods arriving at both towns during morning hours before being delivered to Philadelphia during afternoon hours by local coaches or wagons. Today only two miles (3 km) remain of this former trackage which has been turned into hiking trails and access roads leading to various businesses and homes around LowerBurll Creek Valley including several churches including Trinity Episcopal Church which was built on land donated by prominent Quaker leader Elijah Parish Morin Jr.. The community started as an agricultural society called "the Freeman's Society" that grew out of efforts to raise money for necessary repairs to their farmhouse which had been destroyed by fire six years earlier while they were living near Carlisle.. In 1840 they organized as a town with boundaries defined by Lancaster County lines rather than those defined by George Washington's original surveyor's line because they wanted more control over their own affairs.. They named their new town after Samuel Willison who had donated land adjacent to where they now sit - "Willisonburgh". In 1865 lower burrell post office opened with Wm Husted as mail carrier; later changed to Husted & Son Ltd., then finally Husted Incorporated .. In 1895 Burnett Bros Hardware became the first store in what would become LowerBurrell Township.. By 1910 there were twenty four stores plus three general stores, twelve blacksmiths shops, three hotels/motels and fifteen cottages all clustered together along Main Street just south of present day State Road 309B (now US 422). All but one business closed within thirty years except for Burnett Bros Hardware which continued operation until 1978 when it merged into Lowe’s Companies Incorporated.. On October 15th 1909 Union Pacific Railroad Entered through LowerBurrella Township from Newtown Square Junction ontheir main line coming down from Harrisburg via Bethlehem PAINTERMAN LINE trucking stone used for railroad construction

Lower Burrell is located just east of the confluence of the Susquehanna and Monongahela Rivers. The town plat was filed in 1784 and organized as an unincorporated community on February 24, 1802. In 1824, Lower Burrell became part of Huntingdon County when it was created from parts of Potter Township and Clearfield Township. During World War II, UpperBurrell served as the battalion headquarters for Company C (the 97th Infantry) of the 8th Infantry Division which fought in Normandy and southern France. Afterward LowerBurrell returned to its role as an agricultural community with grain elevator operators being among its main economic tenants until 1985 when Alcoa began manufacturing aluminum products here. Some local attractions include two shopping malls - One called "The Commons" that opened in 1984 and features over 150 stores including Macy's, Sears & Roebuck· etc., as well as JCPenney· etc., while also housing several restaurants such as Bill's BBQ& Grille· etc., Tommy's Lemonade Stand···························· ·and Big Red Truck Stop· · · · · · .
