Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, is a small town in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,451 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first gun mag in Lower Burrell was opened in 1892 by George Cramer and his brother-in-law William Howland. The mag had five issues with the title "The Rifleman". In 1895 it changed its name to "The Rifleman's Herald" and started publication weekly with thirty-eight issues per year until 1903 when it became monthly due to financial difficulties. In 1907 the magazine moved to its present location on Main Street which has been their home since then. In 1915 they changed their name back to "The Rifleman" due to World War I restrictions on magazines having names that could be used as recruiting posters or for other patriotic purposes. They continued publication until 1918 when they were forced to close because of prohibition laws passed during the war. After the war they reopened as an annual magazine but stopped publishing in 1922 because of economic reasons and again closed in 1938 due to prohibition laws pass during World War II After prohibition ended Lower Burrell experienced a period of growth similar to what has been seen throughout much of economically struggling Western Pennsylvania since repeal; however this growth was not sustained over time as there were numerous problems associated with organized crime control of local gambling dens and other illicit activities which took up much of available resources which then were diverted towards fighting Prohibition instead of creating opportunities for local businesses However once recently restored by federal government intervention Lower Burrell is experiencing renewed growth thanks largely to two things; active community involvement through organizations such as Gun Owners Of America (GOA) who support Second Amendment rights along with new investment from private entrepreneurs who see opportunity within lowerBurrell's traditional fabric including tourism potential stemming from NRA designation

The Lower Burrell Rifle and Pistol Club was chartered on November 9, 1892. The club met at the home of Mrs. Fannie Lewis until 1912 when it moved to a rented hall on Third Street in Lower Burrell. In 1916 the club purchased its first gun, an American .22 caliber rifle.

One of the most significant attractions for residents of LowerBurrell are its historical sites including: The Methodist Church (founded 1793), UpperBurrell School (1801), UpperBurrell Baptist Church (built 1875), LowerBurrell Cemetery (1892) and Mill Pond (originally called "The Great Pond"). Another important attraction is nearby Monroeville Township where many famous Americans were born including: Franklin D Roosevelt (1912-1945), James Buchanan Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924), Ulysses S Grant Woodruff III (1922-2005)

In 1827, Upper Burrell was established as a separate town to the east of LowerBurrell. The first post office at LowerBurrell was established on April 14, 1827, and the first deed of land to be sold in what is now LowerBurrell was dated September 3, 1830. On July 1, 1836, LowerBurrell became a census-designated place (CDP) when it was included within Washington Township. The population of CDP reached 513 on June 20, 1945. Lower Burrell has experienced many changes over its history; some of which include: -A fire destroyed most of the buildings in 1905 that made up the original village center -The opening of Interstate 80 through lower burrel led to an increase in business and population
