Prior to this date, Lebanese citizens were U.S.-born citizens or naturalized Americans subject to U.S laws and regulations rather than those based on their citizenship status in Lebanon. Lebanon has been inhabited by humans for over 10 thousand years according to archaeological findings dating back to 7000 BC. The earliest known instance of human habitation is reported from Tell el-Makhazin which lies near present day Beirut within modern day Syria/Aleppo Governorate boundaries. From there evidence suggests early human settlements extended as far north as Anatolia (Turkey) before moving south into what is now Southern Lebanon during the Bronze Age period about 1800 BC until they stopped occupation around 1200 BC due to environmental limitations caused by geography and lack of resources such as water resources or woods for housing settlements." In 1860, following the end of World War II when dramatic changes took place throughout much of western Europe including Lebanese independence from France came about; many people fled westward along I-80 corridor into states like Colorado Springs (later Boulder), Texas Tech University (later Lubbock), Amarillo (later Midland), Phoenix (later Scottsdale) and Albuquerque among others while other refugees poured into eastern portions of America chiefly New York City & Boston areas". especially Philadelphia where up until then ranching had constituted most economic activity Thereafter many refugees began living among their American friends & family creating close social ties w/ them further strengthening cultural ties w/ neighboring countries gradually becoming more open vis-à-vis America

In 1861, during the American Civil War, Lebanon sided with Confederate States of America and became a key railroad junction between Richmond and Charleston; however, its importance waned after Union forces capturedWilkes-Barre in 1862. Lebanon's population peaked at 2,811 in 1920 but declined to 1,882 by 2010 due to various factors including natural disasters such as Hurricane Irene that year and other economic downturns throughout most of the 20th century. However, since 2000 Lebanese immigrants have begun arriving again to form a more diverse community that values culture and entrepreneurship over traditional ways of life
