Lansdowne became the company's president and CEO. He continued to run it until his death in 1977. The company manufactured its products until 1979 when it closed its doors due to economic problems following the advent of plastic handguns and other cases that did not require metal frames or supports for protection from corrosion or theft.

Lansdowne is a small town in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia–Wilmington–York metropolitan area. Lansdowne was founded in 1795 by subscription from the LaFayette Township families who were relocated to what is now Lansdowne from Adamsburg, Pennsylvania due to thick forests and difficult terrain. In 1802 it became a borough and in 1854 it became an incorporated village. The name comes from Wappingers Falls, located two miles (3 km) away. The Village of Lansdowne merged with the Borough of Fair Lawn on February 1, 1972 to create the present-day Philadelphia–Wilmington–York metropolitan area. Lansdowne has a rich heritage that includes its many churches including First Presbyterian Church and Christ Episcopal Cathedral; its school system including Lansdowns Elementary School and Lansdale Middle School; its businesses including Tandem Coffee Company, Wyncote Paper Company and also several restaurants such as Joe's Crab Shack which are open every day of the week; as well as numerous civic organizations such as the Historical Society of Lansdale County and Lansdale Arts Council which helps promote arts in Lansdowne.

The first mills were founded in Lansdowne in 1825 and they produced flour, cottonseed oil, and other products. In the 1830s, there were also two small sawmills in Lansdowne. By 1850, however, most of the village's production had shifted to larger mills located further away. Lansdowne is one of only a few townships in Pennsylvania that remain entirely rural today. It has a total population of just over 1,000 people and most residents are engaged in agriculture or fishing. There are no schools within Lansdowne Township; all students attend nearby municipalities such as Doylestown and Horsham. In 1935-36, Lansdowne Township constructed its first public schoolhouse which still stands today on East Market Street close to where it once stood an agricultural farmstead dating back to the 1700s which is now designated as part of Lansdownsie State Park

It is part of the Philadelphia–Camden–Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name Lansdowne may come from a Native American word meaning "the place where the deer are." The first settlers in what is now Lansdowne were Quakers who came to live on the then-uninhabited land in 1777. They named their new community "Lansdowne" after Sir John Lansdowne, 4th Baronet of Tewkesbury (1692-1756), one of English colonialism's most famous proponents and backers. In 1846, when Delaware County was created from parts of Philadelphia County, Lansdowne became one of its six townships. In 1898 it became a full borough whenPhiladelphia incorporated as a city and all township boundaries were revised by City Council resolution. Lansky Avenue runs through Lansdowne and is known locally as "The Avenue". It begins at Market Street and goes east to west before turning north near Ivey Park for about . It continues past Ivey Park into Kensington Borough before turning northeast into Roxborough Township which also includes Whitehall Township including much of what is today Lansdale section of Montgomery County.
