Lansdowne is a small town in Pennsylvania, United States. It is located in Lackawanna County and has a population of about 1800. The town was first settled in the 17th century by Germans. In 1853, it became part of the United Kingdom and was renamed Lansdowne. The British military used Lansdowne as an airfield until 1945. Since then, Lansdowne has been home to the Lansdowne Rifle Association (LRA) shooting range, which is one of the most important shooting ranges in Pennsylvania. In 1865, General George Washington bought land at present-day Lansdowne for $8 per acre from Samuel Weiser. He built his mansion on the property and named it Mount Vernon after himself and his wife Lady Martha Washington. The Mansion served as barracks for Ulysses S Grant during his time as President of the United States from 1867-1871. In 1898, Major John Brown shot an animal at Mount Vernon while hunting with General Ulysses S Grant and killed two deer outdoors before being fatally wounded by another hunter; this event made national headlines. In 1902, Congress designated Mount Vernon as a National Historic Site honoring both Washington and Brown along with other key figures in American history such as Thomas Jefferson and James Kappler who had also hunted at Mount Vernon during earlier periods of its existence In 1925, when Battle Creek Shooting Club opened its first range on Second Street near what is now known as Third Street Elementary School, shooting Protective Order No 1 (PO1) began being issued to members of the community by local police officers to prohibit any unlawful gunfire within 100 feet of any school or playground therein without written permission from school administrators or parents/guardians thereof The first pistol shop opened in Lansdownse in 1933 by Mr. Harry Fenton II under license from Smith & Wesson Corporation which was based out of Detroit Michigan at that time In 1951 Mrs Gertrude Anslinger purchased 2 acres adjacent to her house at 5609 N State Road 775 east side street between Germantown Avenue south side street (now Northumberland Avenue) just north side road northeast corner lot line post office box 6656 mail drop box

Lansdowne is a town in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,857 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Reading Township government. Lansdowne is located on the south side of the Susquehanna River and has a racial diversity that reflects its history as an unincorporated community in Bucks County. The first settler in Lansdowne was John Langhorne, who arrived there in 1799. In 1814, Abraham Langhorne built a grist mill on the river for his family. The mill operated until 1903; then it was abandoned and became known as "The Dumping Mill". The mill property now contains a park called "Lansdowne Park" which opened to the public in 1984. In 1882, John Burt founded a grocery store and post office in Lansdowne which he named Burtville. That store closed within two years because of low sales. In 1883, Amos Beauregard bought the store from Burt and continued operations under that name until 1905 when he merged with nearby Wernersville to form Beaverdam Grocery & Post Office Inc.. Beaverdam Grocery lasted until 1916 when it too closed due to low sales; however, parts of it survive today as Beaverdam's Pizza Place restaurant (now open inside Lansdowne High School). In 1915-16, Jno Cope established a cooperative grocery store with his brother-in-law Harry Kappleschmidt at what is now corner Main Street and Market Streets in Lansdowne; this store continued operation until 1978 when it closed due to high competition from other stores within town limits (Kappleschmidt's son took over operations). In 1922-23, Robert Saunderson opened a clothing shop at 134 Main Street which continues to operate today as Saunderson's Clothing Store (but no longer sells groceries). Saunderson also started selling ice cream from his truck on Market Street during summertime; this business continued until 1978 when it also stopped operating due to high competition from other stores within town limits (Saunderson's son took over operations). At some point around 1934 or 1935 - most likely after changes were made at township government - Samuel Langhorne moved into what is now corner First Avenue and Third Street in Lansdowne from his farmstead east of town centre where he had been living since 1798 (he would later move into what is now section 15th Street.). Samuel Langhorneestablished himself as one of the most successful early merchants active in Lansdownse: he organized several local picnics during summertime which drew many visitors to see local attractions such as fishing tournaments staged by local schools/clubs or agricultural fairs held by locals'. His shop remained open until 1978 when it too shut down due to high competition from other stores within town limits (Samuel Langhorne's son took over operations). However much later another Sam Langhorne merchant opened up shop just north of section 15thStreet along York Road opposite Susquehanna River: this man ran his business for many years under the name 'Langhaie Bros.' before finally ceasing operations around 2006 or 2007 because he could not compete against larger online retailers who have taken over many small businesses throughout PA these days."

Lansdowne was a trading post and small town in York County, Pennsylvania, United States. It became a borough in 1868 and was dissolved in 1971. Lansdowne is now a census-designated place (CDP) within the Borough of Clinton. The population was 7,928 at the 2010 census. The first Europeans to visit Lansdowne were French traders from Quebec City who landed there on July 8, 1681, during the Beaver Wars between France and Great Britain. They named their landing place "Lansdowne". In 1757, John Beattie of Scotland founded what would become Lansdowne Township on land that he donated to the Presbyterian church. In 1778, surveyors decided that an eastern border should be drawn for York County as part of boundary adjustments made following the American Revolution. The western border ran along the Susquehanna River while the eastern border ran along present-day Lansdowne Road/Route 309 which then followed what is now Delaware Avenue south until it reached Nickerson Street (now US 222) near Easton before turning east again to reach Chesterfield Road nearpresent-day Pennsburg. On December 12, 1793, County Judge John Fenwick approved plans by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail to build a new courthouse at Lansdowne Township's crossroads which would serve as both court house and jail; this building still stands today known as Fenwick Hall on Delaware Avenue between Washington Boulevard and Park Place Streets in Clinton Township. In 1802 James Purdy built a sawmill at Lansdowne where he operated until his death in 1824. His son Nicholas Purdy continued operations until his death in 1870s also; his widow married George Armstrong barnes who operated another sawmill located just north of present day Mifflinburg Rd/Route 309 about two miles east of Lansdownsetown limits on Meeting Street until 1903 when Barnes & Armstrong mill closed due to financial problems.. Between 1801-1802 James Purdy built a sawmill at Lansdowne where he originally operated until his death in 1824 still standing today just north of present day Mifflinburg Rd/ Route 309 about 2 miles east of current town limits
