The Basile brothers were responsible for developing the optical industry in Morehead County. Their business model consisted of selling lenses and other optical equipment to local farmers and businessmen. In 1827, Isaac Basile passed away but his son, Nicholas Genty continued the family business until 1872 when he sold it to John Aiken. Aiken continued to operate the store until he died in 1902. During this time, the store became known as one of the most important sources of optical equipment for local farmers and businesses. In 1903, Charles Wertheimer purchased Aiken's business from John Aiken's heirs. Wertheimer would continue to operate the store until his death in 1954. during this time period, Wertheimer developed an interest in optics and began purchasing new technology for use with optic devices. This led him to develop what is now known as Wertheimer Optics Corporation。Wertheimer Optics Corporation would become one of America's leading manufacturers ofoptical products。Wertheimer also donated many pieces of equipment used in optometry such as microscopes and prisms used by doctors throughout America.」 One notable product developed by Wertheimer Optics Corporation during this time period was their Catacomb microscope which allowed users access to extremely high resolution images while remaining quiet due to its large size.}

Lansdowne is a small town in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 4,951 at the 2010 census. Lansdowne is located on the southern edge of the city of Philadelphia. It is part of the Philadelphia–Camden–Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Lansdowne were Quakers who came to what is now Lansdowne in 1795 from Northampton County, Pennsylvania. The town was named after General James Wolfe's estate in New York state where he and his troops had been defeated by George Washington at Saratoga Springs on October 17,1778. After General Wolfe's death in 1802, his widow granted land to John Hays for settlement and naming of the town after him; Hays also donated a white road running through it which still bears his name today- Warrenton Road. In 1806 John Fenton built a log cabin here which became known as Fenton's Cabin and served as the first post office in Lansdowne. In 1809, Captured British Pirates James Kapp and William Gresham established themselves here as pirates off the coast of Delaware Bay while raiding American vessels off Philadelphia (Kapp later became an infamous figure during the Mexican-American War). They used their "kennels" or huts on this property to store their plunder until they could be moved inland some distance away before being punished with public execution by being hung from a tree near Reading Terminal Market (now called Penn Station). From this point forward, Kapp and Gresham were known locally as "the two Ladds". Eventually much of what is now Lansdowne was developed around Fenton's Cabin including its schools (Fenton Academy & Good Shepherd School), churches (First Baptist Church & Methodist Episcopal Church), stores (John Ahern Storehouse & Weiser Hardware), breweries (Wright Brewing Company & Pemberton Brewery), homes (Homes for All Seasons) – even an amusement park! In 1916 when Germany began World War I, many residents became refugees seeking safety within America due to Europe's warring nations - among them were many local farmers who had become involved with raising hay for military purposes on their properties throughout northeastern Pennsylvania during wartime years; these same farmers would go onto provide vital supplies such as foodgrain and other goods needed by both Allied forces fighting abroad and Axis forces occupying Europe back home. On November 16th 1918 USS Constitution capsized killing nearly 1 hundred Americans crewed aboard her flagship USS Rhode Island docked at Cherry Hill Naval Air Station just outside Philadelphia Harbor; all but one man lost their lives including Captain Amos Lawrence commanding Constitution’s air wing - one can only imagine how that must have felt knowing you are responsible for everyone dead onboard your ship! As news spread quickly of Constitution’s sinking most people living within minutes walked down Broad Street towards waterfront located just behind Navy Yard turning up Cherry Hill Avenue towards riverfront eventually reaching open water where they sunbathed or played until it was dark again... less than 24 hours after her namesake had fought so valiantly against overwhelming odds! Manslaughter charges against 3 men will be pursued however there appears little chance any guilty parties will ever be brought to justice... goddamn nautical luck! Whilets us all...RIP Constitution..

Lansdowne was a village in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,849 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern edge of the city of Reading. The name Lansdowne is derived from the Wyandot word "languange," meaning "to flow". The first settler in what would become Lansdowne was John Lansdowne who arrived in 1786 and erected a cabin near present-day Lansdale. He named his new settlement after his brother-in-law, Lord Dunmore, 2nd Viscount Dunmore. In 1828, James A. Downing became owner of what would become Lansdowne Township and developed it into a commercial center with lumberyards and other businesses. When Reading was founded as an independent community in 1839, Downing renamed his town "Reading" to honor its founder; he also donated land to make it a village. In 1847, Reading's first post office opened at the corner of Second Street and Market Place; it moved to its current location on Elm Street in 1860. At that time, there were only two stores and one Lumber Yard in Lansdowne Village; however, by 1870 there were twelve businesses and eighty-six residents! By 1900 there were over two hundred businesses and two thousand residents living in Lansdowne Township alone! Lansdownsiexa (the Ladies' Aid Society) was organized on October 15th of that year with Mrs. Mary Kapp

Lansdowne quickly grew into a small but thriving community, with several businesses and businesses owners. In the late 1800s, Lansdowne became an important stop on the Keystone Highway, which linked eastern Pennsylvania to western New York. The town's economy changed when construction began on the Erie Canal in 1825, connecting Buffalo, New York to Lake Erie. This new industry meant that many people moved to Lansdowne from outside the town center. The population reached 710 by 1860, but declined steadily over the next few decades due to decline in canal traffic and other factors. By 1970, Lansdowne's population had shrunk to just 100 residents. In recent years, efforts have been made to revive Lansdowne's fortunes through tourism and education opportunities. Restaurants and bars are now open throughout town again (although most closed around 1990), and there has been a recent revival of athletic competitions at nearby Central High School – including baseball (the last time it was held at Lansdowns) and softball (now girls' soccer).
