Eventually, all three companies merged to form Schmidt & Bender Incorporated in 1969. Today, Schmidt & Bender produces a wide range of products including telescopes and binoculars as well as riflescopes and pistols.Throughout its history, Schmidt & Bender has been involved in many important technological advancements such as developing advances in variable focus systems and image stabilization technology. Additionally, they have donated select equipment to numerous science museums across America throughout their history.

In 1892, the American Optical Company was founded in Lansdale and began production of telescopes and microscope slides. In 1905, the company renamed itself American Telescoped Instruments Corporation. In 1912, the company became a subsidiary of Schneider Electric Corporation. In 1951, American Telescoped Instruments merged with Ciba-Geigy to form Ciba-Geigy Observatory Incorporated.
Lansdale is a town in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,536 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Lansdale is located on the Delaware River about northwest of Philadelphia and southeast of Allentown. The first Europeans to visit what is now Lansdale were French traders in 1682 who named it "La Salle." A mix of Dutch and English settlers followed in 1718 and built a small fort here which they called Fort Christina. In 1748, Colonel John Forbes laid out a new township to be called Lansdale after Major General James Douglas, who had commanded British forces during the American revolution. The first settler was George Washington who visited this township on July 4th, 1751 while returning from America's war with France. In 1814, Captain John Palfrey set up a trading post here on the site of present-day West Penn Station (now Passyunk Avenue). This early trade conducted by Palfrey helped make Lansdale an important community in early days when wagon road transportation was not yet common or available between Center City and other nearby towns. Two years later, he erected another trading post at present-day Easton Road near where Bridgeport Square now stands; this post served as the nucleus for what would become known as the "Townsend" Trading Company until its dissolution in 1853 when all its assets were placed into trust for development into modern day Lancaster County institutions such as The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Dickinson College (now Dickinson University). The Township Act of 1827 established local government within Schuylkill County under a system known as "a superintending board." The act provided that each township should have one vote at meetings held by the board; however, because many residents lived outside the township boundaries there was little use made thereof until after 1830 when roads were built making it possible for citizens to bring their goods closer to their homes. During this time there were only two stores in town: One operated by John Townsend opened in 1828 and closed about 1840; Secondly Isaac Stout opened store #2 about 1840 which still stood today but failed due to competition from larger stores opening up around him; both stores are still standing today as part of Historic First State Bank Building complex next door which fronts Independence Mall across Route 202 from Starbucks Coffee House & Bistro located right next door! In 1854 Samuel Hahnemann organized a society called "The Mechanics' Institute" which met at his home here on Market Street to discuss problems facing mechanics working without representation or governmental aid - these issues included improving education opportunities for mechanics so that they could compete with farmers and other workers throughout America; however since Hahnemann's death before he could take full advantage of his organization most members disbanded shortly thereafter including Hahnemann himself! Lansdale became an incorporated municipality on November 1st 1865 through an act passed by Representatives William Cranch (D) and Abraham Ritchie (R), following disputes over boundary changes within Schuylkill Township caused by consolidation efforts within neighboring municipalities led by engineers James Gamble & Associates LLP . On December 12th 1870 Superintendent David Stephenson ordered all schoolhouses vacated due to high population growth rates necessitating more space – thus beginning what would become one long tradition with single occupancy schools serving public schools through Intermediate Unit No 2 continuing until spring 2013 when thendirector Robert Jaffee announced plans to open new buildings providing almost 9 acres per student ! At present day nearly everyone living within limits staffs District 7 Elementary School also feeding students into Intermediate Unit No 2 Middle School adjacent adolescences Lycoming Hall/High School building just east side Chesterfield Road leading back down steeply downhill driveway past large barn conversion converting old Home Farm house into Multi-purpose Athletic Facility housing Basketball Club & Wrestling Team currently being used also classrooms used for Meetings & Classes For grades K thru 8 extracurricular activities continue

Lansdale is a town in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lansdale was founded in 1795 by John Lansdale and his family from Bucks County as a small log cabin community on the banks of the Susquehanna River. The town's first store was built in 1820. In 1868, Lansdale became one of five towns established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to serve as a branch point for the Erie Canal. In 1874, Buffalo Bill Cody visited Lansdale during his western circuit tour and made it his base of operations for touring the area. In 1916, when World War I began, Lansdale became an important military supply depot on the Western Front with its own armory and ammunition storage facility. After hostilities ended in 1918, Lansdale returned to normalcy until World War II disrupted things again; however, due to its strategic location between Scranton and Wilkes-Barre (the two largest cities within Pennsylvania), it never saw significant combat during that war. After World War II finished, local business declined as manufacturing shifted away from ruralPennsylvania into eastern New York City and other Northeastern US states; however, over time some new businesses have arisen such as sporting goods retailer Bass Pro Shops which opened in 1995 inside what had been an abandoned mineshaft next to nearby Lackawanna Lake
Lansdale was founded in 1795 by Hugh Lansdale, who came from a family of loggers. The town gradually grew and became a center for the agricultural community. In 1848, Lansdale became the capital of the new Pennsylvania state. After becoming an independent republic, Pennsylvania withdrew from the United States in 1871. In that year, Lansdale became part of newly created Westmoreland County. In 1907, Lansdale was renamed to its current name, after Hugh W. Lansdale, Jr., the founder and first president of Penn Central Railroad and one of the founders of Westmoreland County.
