In 1881, a man named Augustus F. Lansdale purchased a piece of land in the town of Lansdale, Pennsylvania and began to erect wooden buildings on it. The first building was built in 1882 and was known as the “Lansdale House”. In 1886, Mr. Lansdale also acquired an old mill which he used for his business purposes. He soon discovered that this mill could produce more than enough cloth to meet the needs of his customers and so he decided to build a larger factory on the property. This new factory became known as the “Lansdale Mill” and it continued production until 1904. During this time, Mr. Lansdale also bought some additional land in nearby Scranton and erected another building which he called the “Scranton House”. This house served as his home until his death in 1906. After Mr. Lansdale's death, his son, Augustus F Jr., took over his business operations and continued producing cloth products until 1912 when he sold it all to Champion Mills Incorporated who continue producing these types of products today under their current name - Champion Mills Corporation
Lansdale is a small town in Pennsylvania, located in the Lehigh Valley. The population was 5,835 at the 2010 census. Lansdale is home to the Lansdale School District and many other school districts as well. It also has two shopping malls and two universities- one within walking distance of the town and one just outside of town. The first settlers arrived in what is now Lansdale in 1776, when George Washington and his forces were on their way from Philadelphia to attack British troops at Yorktown. The area that would become Lansdale was part of Westmoreland County until 1802, when it became part of Lehigh County. In 1853, the borough of Lansdale was incorporated as a city by an act of the Pennsylvania General Assembly. At that time, it had a population of 1,100 people and was considered a rural municipality with little economic development potential outside its boundaries. However, over time, Lansdale has experienced significant growth due both to its location and its role as an industrial center for eastern Pennsylvania during the early 20th century. Today, Lansdale is home to some 12 businesses employing over 100 people representing various industries including plastics manufacturing; textiles; printing; trucking; food processing; transportation equipment manufacture; medical technology; information technology; carpentry/ Joinery/Trouble Shooting Supplies

Until the early 1800s, most people wore plain spectacles (or "sunglasses"), which were made from a thin piece of metal or plastic and had no lenses. However, in the mid-1800s, a new type of lens was developed called an enema lens because it could be inserted into one's rectum to see clearly across a room. The glasses industry took off after this discovery!

Lansdale is a town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,551 at the 2010 census. The name Lansdale likely comes from the Ladd family which owned a farm hereabouts for generations. Lansdale was founded in 1798 by George Washington and James Logan as a small station on the Susquehanna River. By 1820 it had grown to be one of three settlements on the river (the others being Cumberland and West Clearfield), and by 1830 its population had reached 1,500. In 1875 it became an incorporated town with a population of 10,000. On July 4, 1800, General John Forbes laid out his land grant known as "Fulton" along what is now Pennsylvania Route 9 near present-day Lansdale in Butler County. This land grants were given to many people including George Washington who named it Lansdale after his father's home parish in Fife Scotland. It was not until 1798 that Washington and Logan located their farm just east of present day Lansdale on the right bank of the Susquehanna River where they built their house called Log Cabin Number One (later renamed Log Cabin Number Two). The first post office opened in Lansdale on November 12th, 1814 under the name Fulton which continued until 1840 when it changed to Laddsville due to lack of letters available from Lancaster. In 1875, when Lebanon Township was organized within Butler County, Lansdale became its center with a population over 10 thousand people living in several square miles inside what is today's city limits of Altoona/Lansdale/New Kensington area combined with surrounding rural areas including parts of Clearfield Township and Cumberland Township - making it one of America's largest towns by population at that time! At that time Altoona/Lansdal/New Kensington also included all or part of what are now Beaver Falls Borough Council District 2 (including present-day Downingtown), Whitehall Borough Council District 3 (containingpresent-day Allentown), Huntingdon Borough Council District 5 (containingpresent-day Hazleton), Monongahela Borough Council District 6 (containingpresent-day Swartzworth) and Scranton Borough Council District 7 (containingpresent-day Wilkes-Barre). In 2000 Census there were only 738 residents living in Altoona/Lansdal/New Kensington area combined with surrounding rural areas! Today over 40% of Altoona's workforce lives outside City Limits! Today we celebrate our rich history through events like Heritage Days & numerous exhibits throughout our downtown district
Lansdale was incorporated as a borough on July 1, 1879, from the portion of Butler Township that lay east of the Susquehanna River. The borough was named for General John A. Lansdale, commander in chief of American forces in Europe during World War I.
