In 1824, it became a borough within the newly formed borough of Wilkes-Barre. The borough seat was moved to Lansdale in 1898 after the merger of Wilkes-Barre and Pittston Township. The Borough Council currently meets at the Masonic Temple which has been their original home since 1824. The community lies south of Interstate 69 on a wide valley that forms the border between Allegheny County to the north and Westmoreland County to the south. To its east are Mount Lebanon and Bigelow Hills; while to its west are Forbes Mountain and Butler Hill. According tothe 2010 US Census, Lansdale had a total population of 7,898 with 3,756 households and 2,808 families residing inside city limits (of which only 399 were living within 5 miles of downtown). Outlying areas include: White Oak Township (to the northwest), East Liverpool Township (to the southeast), North Huntingdon Township (to the southwest) & Monaca Borough (west of Pittsburgh). In 1840 when Pennsylvania began admitting new states into Union as an open territory under full government control, Lansdale became one such statelet - as did most other towns in western Pennsylvania until Reconstruction efforts led to passage of federal legislation granting voting rights to all citizens regardless of race or ancestry in 1876 following a system known as Jim Crow Laws across much southern America whereby people who could not produce documentation demonstrating they were white were limited access to public services generally denied without consequence to those considered black or poor including many residents in rural parts of eastern Pennsylvania where whites constituted majorities or near majority populations

It is interesting to note that while revolvers became increasingly popular throughout the late 19th century they remained relatively rare until around 1911 when they reached their peak popularity!
