Lansdale is a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 4,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Lansdale's ZIP code is 15109. The first settlers in what is now Lansdale were John and Catherine Sellers who arrived in 1798 from Northumberland, England. They were followed by others over the next few years including Isaac Beiler and his wife Sarah (née Kapp). In 1810, Benjamin Fenton purchased land from the Beilers and laid out a township called "Lansdale" which became a borough on July 1, 1814. In 1828, John Denny established a sawmill and grist mill at present-day Lansdale after purchasing 640 acres (2 km²) of woodland near what is now Monongahela Valley Mall for $5 per acre ($/ha). This mill continued to produce lumber until it closed in 1978. On October 3, 1861, during American Civil War II (), Confederate General Robert Ewell located his headquarters at Monongahela Valley Mall while on an expedition against Union forces under Ulysses S Grant (). Aftermath of the battle led to increased military activity around the mall and surrounding communities as Union troops made their way back into town to try to find Ewell's hiding places. As a result of this military activity numerous stores and homes were damaged or destroyed; however no one was ever arrested or held accountable for these actions due to lack of evidence. A Local History Museum opened in 1961 commemorating this event and contains exhibits about both the battle itself as well as local history since 1861 up until present day. The current incarnation of Lansdale began when construction began on Monongahela Valley Mall in 1984 with its completion being celebrated by Mayor Ed Rendell that year with an outdoor concert by then-local rock band Twisted Sister billed as "The Last Great Battle At Monongahela Valley Mall". The mall has grown steadily over its years tenure with anchor tenants such as JCPenney、 Macy's、 Sears & Roebucketts etc., but closures have occurred periodically including Banana Republic store closure in 2013 following bankruptcy filings; JBL audio store closings in 2016 due to weak sales; Menard's department store closure announced in February 2017 effective March 1st; Ross Dress For Less closing early 2018 prior to any brick-and-mortar locations being converted into TJMaxx outlet stores; etc.. A new transportation infrastructure has been built specifically for shopping at Monongahela Valley Mall which includes two levels underground parking garages along with an expressway connecting it directly to I-75 southbound within minutes' walk of all entrances,. This project was funded through$215 million dollars raised through property taxes levied on businesses located withinMonongahelaValleyMall boundaries subjecting them also theretofor redevelopment if appropriate reuse becomes available or if not then special assessments are assessed accordingly according To approved plans filed last November With full funding commitment set for On January 8th 2020 work will commence immediately upon receiptof full Environmental Review Certificate from State Chaired Agency known as PennDOT - expect ribbon cutting summer 2020

Lansdale is a town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,513 at the 2010 census. Lansdale is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Lansdale is also home to York University and The Catholic University of America. The town was first settled in 1793 by John Lansdale and his wife Catherine Neville. In 1811, the name was changed to Lansdale Township after General James Wilkinson who fought in the War for Independence on behalf of the United States. The township was organized as a borough in 1836 and became a city in 1902 when it merged with Philadelphia. When Philadelphia annexed Butler County in 1814, parts of what are now Lansdale Township and North Kensington were included withinPhiladelphia's limits. When that city's boundaries expanded again in 1850, all but one block of what are now North Kensington Square were added toPhiladelphia proper - giving rise to the popular saying "a city within a city." In 1865, during the American Civil War, Captain Henry Fenton bought 4 acres (1 km²) of land near present-day Bethlehem because he felt it would be an excellent location for military training camps should Union forces move into northern Pennsylvania to invade Maryland or Delaware. He named his property Camp Fenton after himself and developed it into what is now known as Lansdale Park which encompasses much of central Butler County today including most of downtown Lansdale as well as much rural acreage eastward along I-290 until its intersection with PA Route 202 near West Conshohocken Mills Mall (now Southwark Mall). There were also smaller camps located at Five Mile Run between Bethlehem and Lancaster; White Oak Swamp off US 22 southwest of Lancaster; Rosebud Creek off US 322 northeast of Allentown; Mount Carmel west of Sinkingtown where Fort Hancock later stood; Spring Branch Creek east of Centerstown north pastpresent day Monmouth Junction before reaching Pottersville creek near present day Swedesboro village then turning south through Biglerville then turning northwest once entering Lebanon Valley lost track but likely reached modern day Spring Grove outside Monmouth Junction During World War II large numbers Japanese Americans living throughout westernPennsylvania were incarcerated at various camps located around Harrisburg such as those located around Lackawanna River Gorge National Recreation Area operated by Army Air Forces from 1942 – 1945 . Some have argue that these camps constituted genocide against Japanese Americans . A group effort led by retired U.S. Marine Corps Major Ishikawa Akira made public documents available which showed that many people died due to exposure/starvation– even some soldiers who had nothing whatsoever to do with aircraft production or airfields maintenance . Aftermath: over 100 lawsuits filed , $26 million awarded & 1 death resulted In 1948 Camp McLaughlin closed following an agreement reached between Defense Minister Moshe Dayan and Reporters Without Borders Following World War II large numbers Japanese Americans living throughout westernPennsylvania were incarcerated at various camps located around Harrisburg such as those located around Lackawanna River Gorge National Recreation Area operated by Army Air Forces from 1942 – 1945 .
