Kingston, Pennsylvania is a small town in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was founded in 1755 by French traders as the first permanent English settlement in what is now the United States. The area that now Kingston was part of Huntingdon Township until 1801 and then part of Northampton Township until 1865. The population of Kingston peaked at 12,295 in 1930, but has since declined to 9,898 (2010). The first settlers were farmers who arrived from northern England around 1755. By 1800 there were over 100 households living in Kingston. In 1801 Huntingdon Township was created from parts of Northampton Township and it became an incorporated town on October 15th of that year. On November 3rd of that year, the first school building was erected on the present site of the high school which served as the town's schools until 1965 when it moved to its current location. Rifle stocks history began with Captain John Butler who settled in Kingston in 1775 and established a trading post there with his brother-in-law Colonel James Craighead. Captain Butler had purchased land east of where he built his post from Native Americans for £100 sterling and proceeded to develop it into what is today known as Butler Park which included a tavern, store and rifle range named after him. At this time firearms were still primarily used for hunting animals such as deer or bear rather than being used for warfare which would become more common over time. In 1802 Captain Butler passed away leaving behind two sons John Butler Jr., also called "Johnny" (1777–1852) and James Craighead III (1780–1845). After their father's death they took over running their father's business but soon realized that they didn't have enough experience to run it properly so they turned it over to their younger brother Johnny Jr.. When Johnny Jr.'s wife died childless in 1809 he married Elizabeth Welsh (died 1850), daughter of Samuel Welsh who had earlier been one of Captain Butler's customers at his trading post. Elizabeth bore him six children: four boys and two girls: Sarah Jane (baptized December 25th, 1787 – died 1863), Alfred Edward (baptized February 5th 1830 – died 1861), Isabella Augusta (born November 14th 1800 – died unmarried 1840), Ellen Maria Ann(born May 10th 1804 – died unmarried 1850). Ellen Maria Ann later married Daniel Muhlenbergenhagen (flour merchant) and had seven children: Anna Elisabeth(born January 4th 1807 – died unmarried 1850), Emma Margaret(born October 20th 1810 – died unmarried 1860), Mary Augusta( born December 6th 1812 - died unmarried 1870), Hanson David(baptized about date unknown - died young unmarried 1830)and George Washington Muhlenbergenhagen(married December 26th 1840 - son by Anna Elisabeth Muhlenbergenhagen). In 1827 the Township changed its name to Kingston when it became part of Philadelphia County. It remained part of Philadelphia County until 1889 when it became independent again as Kingston Township, Delaware County

Elijah Parish (baptist minister), Drs Jacob Riis (pathologist), Edwin Edwards (governor) and others 1 Samuel Morse - inventor who developed Morse Code 3 Timothy Leary - LSD pioneer Kingston experienced significant growth following World War II with development such as housing developments such as Strawberry Fields Housing Authority and Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Nursing Home being constructed throughout the borough prior to its incorporation into Borough Status in 1951 . Additionally local industries including aviation manufacturing company Allegheny Airlines Corporation Headquarters building located across from Borough Hall remain some of Beaver County's most iconic landmarks today
