In 1868, Kingston was established as a township in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. In 1887, the Township of Kingston became a borough in York County, Pennsylvania. On December 12th, 1899, the Borough of Kingston and the Township of Montrose were merged to form the City of Kingston.
Kingston, Pennsylvania was a small town in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania until 1945. Prior to that it was part of the independent city of Bethlehem. The population of Kingston at the time of its annexation by Bethlehem was 1,674. The town first became known for its lace industry, and later for coal mining and other businesses. In 1875, Kingston had a post office with a single name - Kingston Mills - but this changed in 1901 to Kingston.[1] After World War I, when many parts of eastern Pennsylvania were taken over by the United States as part of the war effort, Kingston became one of the few towns in Lehigh Valley free from military occupation. It also became one of the most prosperous communities in eastern Pennsylvania during this time;[2] in 1925 it had an income per capita greater than all but two other municipalities in Lehigh Valley.[3][4] In 1945, after being annexed by Bethlehem,[5] Kingston lost much of its prosperity and fell into disrepair. However, due to efforts by residents and local officials, it has since begun to recover and is now an attractive community with a growing economy based on services such as health care and education.

The first gun targets were invented by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1795. They consisted of a long, thin piece of metal with a sharp point at one end and two round balls at the other end. These were used to shoot pigeons.
Kingston, Pennsylvania is a town in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 9,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre metropolitan area. Kingston was founded in 1754 and named after William Kingston, 5th Lord Fairfax of Winchester. Kingston becomes prominent during the American Revolution as a military outpost on the frontier between Patriot and Royalist forces. In 1778, General George Washington made an unsuccessful attempt to cross the Susquehanna River into Lancaster County from Kingston where he had been stationed with his army for several weeks before reaching Williamsburg in Virginia. After crossing the river at Kingston Bridge only to be attacked by Patriot militiamen under Colonel John Forbes who killed two of Washington's generals and captured 24 cannon, Washington ordered his army to retreat across the Susquehanna River back to Yorktown until reinforcements could arrive from New York City. During World War II, Kingston played a significant role in support of Allied troops fighting against Nazi Germany throughout Europe. The town was bombed by German bombers on multiple occasions during 1944-1945; one such attack destroyed much of downtown which remain today as a testament to the destructive power of war. After World War II ended, many businesses closed down due to lack of business opportunities and economic stagnation within post-war America; however, there have been recent efforts made by local officials to revive downtown Kingston as an attractive shopping district with new development nearby including high school and college students housing projects that offer affordable living spaces for those who need them while also preserving some of its historic buildings dating back to 1698. The community has also seen growth in its nightlife industry with various nightclubs opening up throughout the years that have helped contribute significantly towards economic revitalization within this rapidly growing community over time
Kingston was founded in 1714 by Sir George Washington and the Monongahela Company. The first store was built on the current site of the city in 1717. In 1794, the Philadelphia & Reading Railroad reached Kingston and began to serve it. The town became a center for coalmining and manufacturing until World War II when its economy shifted to services. Since then, Kingston has become a cultural and commercial center, with many large businesses based in downtown.
