In 1827, after it was made clear that Pittsburgh would become the new capital of America, Kingston became its municipal government center under Mayor George Wyeth. It was not until 1848 that Kingston's charter as a city was granted by then-President James K. Polk; at that time it had a population totaling just 907 people. On July 12th 1865 during American Civil War II General Order No 3 "Provisional Order" called for all patriots who could be found in Butler County to assemble at or near Prieststown for military duty; this order led to much anti-war sentiment among many residents who saw service in federally organized armies as something akin to slavery or indentured servitude rather than freedom from tyranny or oppression like they experienced back home at home with British rule (and even more so given their recent experience during World War I). Consequently most residents chose not to take up arms against their own government but instead took up arms against Union forces which ultimately resulted in over two thousand causalities including over one hundred dead soldiers throughout Butler County alone). Aftermaths included social unrest as well as confiscation/destruction/retention by Union authorities of property rights enjoyed by prior inhabitants since these troops were effectively occupying their homes without due process or compensation - essentially violating centuries-old principles governing governance within Anglo-American societies while concurrently profiting off those same institutions through marketirtship (this has also been referred to as "gentrification"). At around this time also came development along South Market Street culminating with construction beginning on what would later be known as Renwick Plaza - one example highlighting how white flight into older cotton mill towns such as Kingston can lead to large reinvestments (in industry) and job growth outside those towns once services are brought within them by expanding transportation networks such as railroads)

Kingston is a small town in western Pennsylvania, close to the Susquehanna River. The population was 7,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lehigh Valley region. The first recorded mention of Kingston was in 1266 when it was called "Città della Bormida". In 1837, Kingston residents voted to incorporate as a city and it became a borough on December 15, 1892. The borough was dissolved on March 1, 1895, and its territory became part of the new Borough of Allentown. On July 1, 1909, Kingston-Warren Township took over jurisdiction from Allentown and incorporated as a separate municipality with its own government. On January 1, 1784 York County seat moved from Lancaster to Kingston due to population growth in that area; following this change all other towns in York County were also merged into Kingston until they were again separated on November 3rd 1802 by Order of General Assembly #5: "An act for the consolidation of several townships within the county." The first post office in Kingston opened on October 25th 1800 under the name "Allentown". It served until 1865 when it changed its name to "Kingston". The current post office building was built in 1907–1909 and is located at 5255 Ontario Road SE. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , all land. It was founded in 1798 as a small settlement on the southern bank of the Susquehanna River. In 1825, it became part of York Township. On July 1, 2008, Kingston annexed the neighboring town of Easton.
