The lack of infrastructure made it difficult for businesses to grow quickly; however, this did not stop entrepreneurs from starting up new businesses throughout the years. One such entrepreneur was David Herron who started a grocery store on Main Street in 1835 which soon became known as one of the most successful grocery chains in America. Over time other businesses including dry goods stores (such as Mr Smith's) hardware stores (including Paws & Paw), meatpacking plants (Fisherman's Union), bakeries (Reed Bros.), hotel rooms (the Hotel Greene) and amusement park rides gradually added their names to the local community list; making it one place where you could find anything from groceries to entertainment options just about any day of the week!
