During American Revolutionary War (1775-83), British forces burned down many homes and businesses along the riverside strip between present day Lancaster and Philadelphia due to trade restrictions placed on colonialists during that time period as retribution for acts of patriotische violence such as raids against British military posts or captures of enemy troops during battles such as Saratoga or Yorktown). One local resident who lost his home during this time period was John Sellers who lived nearpresent day Washington Avenue and State Street before it became known as Market Square after Kingston's early commercial development

Today, Kingston is a small unincorporated community located along Ulysses S Grant Boulevard east of Morgantown with a few commercial properties remaining in operation including a grocery store and restaurant called The Dairy Queen
In 1784, the area that is now Kingston was part of the Huntingdon County borough of York. It was erected as a township on March 3, 1825. On December 15, 1828, it became a village and on October 13, 1836, it became a city. The population of Kingston reached its peak in 1870 with over 60,000 residents. However, by 1900 the population had declined to around 30,000. In 1933 the city was annexed by Philadelphia and lost its charter as a municipality.
