Since 1978, all types of firearms are legal in Johnstown without any special permits or regulations. During the prohibition era, many people inJohnstown used airguns as part of their outdoor recreation activities such as target shooting, hunting, fishing, and bird watching. Some people also used airguns during World War II to shoot down German planes while they flew over America.
