Hermitage is a small town in the Philadelphia metropolitan area,home to over 60,000 people. The population of Hermitage was 9,812 at the 2010 census. In 1851, John Moses Hill established a munitions factory here in what is now known as Hilltown. The plant produced ordnance for the Union army during the American Civil War and later for World War I. Ammunition production in Hermitage began in earnest after World War II when the town's large arsenal became available to produce ammunition for the United States military. Today, Hermitage Arsenal manufactures artillery rounds, mortar rounds and anti-tank rounds. Ammunition products are exported to many countries around the world.

Hermitage is a small town in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Reading Township government. The first settlers in Hermitage were German missionaries who arrived in 1777 and built a log cabin on what is now Main Street. In 1803, they founded the College of Philadelphia which became the University of Pennsylvania in 1825. In 1870, the Agricultural Society of America (ASA) founded a farm near Hermitage which remain still active to this day. They also established a school for girls which continues to operate as today's Hermitage Academy. In 1906, an iron bridge was completed over State Road 114 west of town and annexed by hermitage township; this made it possible for people from all over Berks County to attend Hermitage's schools despite its remoteness from most cities and towns in that area. The first post office opened at Hermitage on December 15, 1903; it continued operation until 1947 when it was discontinued due to lack of mail volume. The first store opened at Hermitage in 1907; it closed in 1951 but reopened as a convenience store known as "Pennywise". A new store building was constructed between 1959 and 1961 and remains operational today as Village Plaza Supermarket. A state-of-the-art high school was built across from Pennywise between 1984 and 1988 with funding provided by the WASP Club of Philadelphia under then Mayor Ed Rendell's administration; however,.the school closed before completion due to budget cuts during his term as mayor LaDonna Holmes took office subsequent year). A new high school has been proposed for downtown HerMITAGE but no action has been taken since Governor Tom Corbett took office in 2011

Hermitage is a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 11 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first European to visit Hermitage was John Fetterman in 1768. Fetterman and his group of settlers were on their way to see the newly discovered Susquehanna River when they came across a natural fortress called Hermitage Castle. Built by Nicholas de Montresor, Hermitage served as a fortified station on the Erie Canal network and later became an agricultural center with tobacco production becoming an important industry in the early 19th century. In 1814, General James Kenedy's army halted at Hermitage during its retreat from Yorktown and used it as a base of operations for his campaign against Tecumseh. After fighting at Monmouth Court House and Battle of Gettysburg, General Kenedy decided to move his command post eastward and ended up spending several weeks at Hermitage before returning home. In 1881, George Armstrong Custer stayed at Hermitage while he took possession of lands surrounding Fort Snelling after losing control of them to Sioux warriors during the Indian Wars. In 1909, Henry Ford moved his family from Dearborn Heights, Michigan to Dearborn Township in Butler County so they could be close to their significant other Nellie Mae Ford (1896-1986), who had been born in nearby Greenfield Township. At that time only about 10 people lived within walking distance of Dearborn Township's two schools—Hermitage School District No. 1 (now known as Morehouse College) and Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic School—and most residents relied upon car pools or individual transportation for getting around because there was no public transportation available until the late 1960s or early 1970s. They started having car pooling sessions every day except Sundays so that all members could contribute something towards making daily life easier for everyone else - this led to what we know now as 'Fordism'. By 1974 they had enough cars so that each member could have one assigned but still needed someone else's car on weekdays outside normal hours if they wanted extra passengers then those assignments reverted back to "shared rides." With this system in place middle class families enjoyed what today would be considered suburbia lifestyle without ever havingto leave their comfortable homes! Residents also created one another through organizations such as Scouts troop #411 which provided hiking opportunities near campus; Girl Guides troop #503 which hosted bake sales;Norwegian Knights lodge #828 which offered barbecues; American Legion Post 9137 donated 800 feet of land next door for use as a park; Quaker Meeting House raised over $4000 for local charities/projects during their annual meeting that year...What resulted was an entity where everyone felt like themselves regardless of background or socioeconomic status
The Hermitage is a National Historic Landmark in Pennsylvania. It was built by Nicholas-Jacques Conte, a French immigrant in the early 18th century, and is one of the most well-preserved examples of FederalIST architecture. The Hermitage was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
