However, some evidence suggests that early shotgun guns had small lamps on the barrel known as “light fires”. These became popular after 1814 when a law in Pennsylvania mandated that all firearms be registered with the government. This led to the development of various types of lights for shotguns, including those made by hand-held masons called “hand cranks”. The first firearm to use a modern type of light in America was an 1857 revolver made by Samuel Colt. This weapon was able to penetrate clothing and fire shells from a long barrel without having to reload. It also featured an electric battery that powered the light bulb inside the gun mantelpiece. The popularity and success of this handgun led to other manufacturers developing similar devices over the years. By 1860, there were more than 100 different types of handguns available in America alone! During World War II, many people found themselves using firearms for combat purposes. Hazleton is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first settler in what would become Hazleton was John Butler in 1778. He erected a cabin on the east side of West Hazleton Creek. One hundred years later, James Fenton built a house on North Henschel Street which still stands today as one of Hazleton's most prominent landmarks. In 1814, William Woodward took over from Fenton as proprietor of North Henschel Street House and made it his home until his death in 1875. The following year saw another milestone when John Pugh erected the first steamboat dock at what is now Point State Park on West Side Highway (now Wright Road). Prior to this, water transport for goods had been by wagons or horseback riders across miles of open country between points on both sides of the creek mouth

Hazleton is a small town in McKean County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Hazleton is the smallest municipality in Pennsylvania and the sixth-most populous municipal unit in the United States. The community of Hazleton was founded by Nicholas Hockley and John Sacher on July 2, 1795 as a part of what would become the United States of America. The first post office was established in Hazleton on October 15, 1814 by Peter J. Brownell with the name "Newtown". On May 11, 1815, it changed its name to "Hazleton" after Nicholas Hockley's home town of Hazlehurst in Sussex County, England. The first store opened at 103 Main Street on December 6th 1850 by Isaac Dyer & Bros. The first school opened in Hazleton on November 10th 1853 by Mr. David Crouse under instruction from Reverend James Caldwell of Clarks Summit Academy where he taught for one year before moving to Easton to open his own school there. In 1870–71, William Tilden built an estate (later known as Donelson Manor) near present-day Hazleton that provided much need for local goods and services during Reconstruction following the American Civil War including lumber mills run by Captains Edwin Ladd and Joseph Smith Jr., tanneries operated by Joshua Goudreau and Elijah Woods (the latter also responsible for starting Erie Canal), sawmills and gristmills producing both flour and sawdust as well as wagonloads of salt were all located within walking distance of each other hereabouts *.
