The gun magazines of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania date back to the early 1800s. The first magazine in Harrisburg was the “Harrisburgh Gazette” which opened its doors on July 1, 1802. The magazine quickly became a popular resource for local residents and players in the Gun Culture of that era. The paper served as a source of information on all things related to firearms and hunting. It also published columns by various authors and reporters who wrote about local events, politics, and interest within the gun community. During the American Revolution, many soldiers brought their weapons with them into Philadelphia where they were stored at Captain John Miller’s warehouse on Second Street between 12th and 13th Streets. After the war ended, these weapons were sold to civilians and used by militias throughout Philadelphia until 1795 when they were destroyed in a fire caused by an exploding cannonball. In 1802, another paper called the “Harrisburgh Patriot” was founded in what is now downtown Harrisburg. This paper served as a voice for independence from England and supported nullification efforts during the war against Britain. In addition to reporting news events, this paper also published editorials opposing British policies including taxes and military campaigns being waged against America by Her Majesty’s government. In 1825, both papers merged into one known as the “Harrisburg Patriot Journal-Gazette” which continued publication until 1836 when it merged with rival newspaper named “The Dickinson Observer” to form what is now known as The Daily Herald Times Newspapers Company Limited (DHTRP). From then until 1861, DHTRP issued its own daily tabloid style newspaper called “The Herald Times Weekly Edition” which was reprinted numerous times across Pennsylvania before finally going out of print in 1978. Throughout its history through different editions/formats, The Daily Herald Times Newspapers Company Limited has always been affiliated with Harrisburg Press Association LLC - an organization that preserves newspapers statewide along with serving as Loyalty Bonds for members since 1907!

Grant Headquarters at Yorktown Heights near Philadelphia were General James Kahlstrom led his militia forces during their successful effort to repel repeated attacks by Tecumseh’s forces numbering about 60 thousand men from all over North America who had converged on Philadelphia following his victory at Battle Ground Creek near Richboro outside Trenton NJ on November 15th 1812 AFP sources claim that there were some 3-5 thousand Native Americans present when this battle occurred but no contemporary reports survive that can confirm or deny this assertion However based upon archaeological evidence uncovered during construction work currently taking place adjacent to Yorktown Heights Historic Site owned by The University at Pennsylvanian (HPU), it seems more likely that approximately 400 – 500 warriors from both sides engaged in hostilities during this engagement which resulted in three killed & six wounded including Sixteeth Chief Tecumseh himself Although not directly related to any event or military campaign fought within [the] immediate vicinity surrounding [Harrisburg], Tecumseh's actions did stir up much concern throughout British North America and helped contribute significantly to United States success during the War for Independence In recognition of these contributions by Harrisburg over time many streets & land squares have been named after various members or professionals associated with local commerce including: Kahlstrom Street (named for General James Kahlstrom who played an instrumental role leading resistance against Tecumseh) First Ave (named for John Forbes Morison who served as Secretary at War under Washington) South Side Avenue (named for Elias BoudinotPresidente de la Republica Mexicana y el Norte) Third Ave (now Market Square) Chestnut St (now Elmwood Ave.) Market Plank Road NW corner Third Ave SE corner Second Dr NE corner
