Greensburg is a town in Adams County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 4,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Greensburg is located on the Allegheny River and is bordered by Westmoreland to the north and northeast, Butler County to the east, Huntingdon County to the south and west, and Beaver County to the northwest. The first settlers in Greensburg were three men from Yorkshire who arrived in 1798. They built a log cabin on what is now State Street. In 1801, John Forbes purchased land in what are now North Main Street and South Park Avenue from Anthony Morehouse for $1 per acre. In 1812-1813 George Washington Scott founded a school here which he called "The Academy". The first post office was established in Greensburg on October 25th, 1816 with six partners - James Watt (Watt & Sons), David Dixon (Dixon Brothers), Nicholas Murray (Nicholas Murray & Sons), Archibald Carey (Archibald Carey & Company) - all of whom subscribed one dollar each. In 1824-1825 Josephine Green bought land adjacent to present day State Street from Anthony Morehouse for $3 per acre; she later donated it back to government as Township Square Park. In 1830 Samuel Parsons developed Parsons Valley into a thriving community with two churches – First Presbyterian Church (#2) and Second Presbyterian Church (#3). He also built the first steam locomotive engine in America here – No 16 of the Erie Railroad's Pennsylvanian Line – running between Altoona Junction Train Station on November 14th 1830 and Greensburg Depot on December 5th 1830. Greensburg experienced rapid growth following its incorporation as a borough in 1838 when it became home to over 1,000 residents; it grew even more after becoming an independent city on June 15th of that year pursuant to an act of Congress approved by President Andrew Johnson cabinet member Caleb Cushman under pressure from then-Mayor John Fetterman Sr.. On July 1st 1870 fire destroyed most of Downtown Greensburg leaving only One Hundred Forty Nine Residential buildings including twenty nine stores/cafés remaining standing today! However during this time period too many people were moving out of their homes onto new lots without taking any precautions such as having proper water systems put into place or properly reinforcing these structures due diligence had not yet been taken for urban planning purposes back then…the lessons learned would eventually lead us down road #2 where we have our current infrastructure issues today! An interesting footnote about this particular event happened right before City Hall burned down; Mayor Fetterman’s father lived across street from One Hundred forty Nineresidential building but due legal troubles with his son mayoral oversight fell through so property owner could move closer & torch building while mayor was away!!!BIG MISTAKE!!

Greensburg is a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,906 at the 2010 census. Greensburg is part of the Wheeling-Charleston-Morgantown, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1779 by George Washington and other Revolutionary War veterans as a stop on their journey to Yorktown. A gristmill on the South Branch of the Susquehanna River served as the first purpose-built mill in Greensburg. The mill closed in 1867 but reopened in 1903 as the First National Grist Mill & Paper Company. It was later acquired by Bethlehem Steel Corporation and closed again in 2006. In 2007, it became home to one of two surviving original frame homes from Philadelphia's Germantown district (the other being Bacchus Marsh). The community developed around two churches: First Presbyterian (founded 1824) and Second Presbyterian (founded 1854). both were located on Valley Circle Road just east of present day Market Street. Valley Circle Road also served as a major transportation artery for early settlers and remains an important thoroughfare today. In 1840, when Greensburg had a population of 100 people, there were six stores and eight houses; by 1860 there were only four stores and one house remaining; by 1870 there were only three stores and no houses remaining; by 1880 there were only two stores open and no houses available; by 1890 there were only two buildings left with a total population of 60 people living within them." A school was established in 1865 at what is now Market Street Elementary School while West High School opened its doors that same year near where Green Street meets Market Street." By 1969, all schools had been closed or merged into larger schools within Butler County before reopening under new name West Side Schools after merging with North Side Schools which are still operational today." After years of budget cuts during the Great Recession some residents moved out leaving behind empty properties until 2013 when local entrepreneur Joshua Mollenberger purchased five parcels totaling . With help from PennDOT'sheny Township Revitalization Program program he has restored these properties turning them into housing units that offer great opportunity to young families who are often priced out ofaffordable neighborhoods across Butler County." As more developers come onto this market area Greensburg will continue to grow with more businesses opening up spaces for residents to work including restaurants/bars/stores etc
