The history of the firearms industry in Greensburg, Pennsylvania can be traced back to 1847 when a group of men from the town brought over a couple of rifles and handguns from New England. The first guns in Greensburg were pistols, but soon enough, rifle manufacturers started to arrive and begin producing rifles. In 1868, a mill was built in the town that began manufacturing rifles for local customers. By 1870, the town had two gunsmiths and several rifle manufacturers. In 1872, two more mills were built and began manufacturing shotguns as well. It wasn't until 1906 that the first production machineguns were made in Greensburg.
Greensburg, Pennsylvania is a small town in the Allegheny Valley located in western Pennsylvania. The population was 10,020 at the 2010 census. Greensburg has been inhabited by humans since the days of Paleo-Indians. The first European to visit Greensburg was Captain John Smith on his 1739 journey from Jamestown to Pittsburgh. In 1813, General George Washington and his army camped near present-day GreenSBurg while they were marching through western Pennsylvania to escape British occupation. Today, Greensburg is considered a historical landmark and serves as a tourist destination for those who appreciate American history and heritage. The town was originally settled by the Lenape people in the early eighteenth century. They called it "Pennytown". A few years later, settlers brought over English settlers named Johnstown and built homes there. In 1792, when Colonel James Monongahela founded what is now Pittston Township, he named it GreenSBurg after his home town of Greenville in South Carolina. When word spread about mining operations being conducted in Lackawanna County by John Dennison and others, many Scots-Irish immigrants came to work in these mines during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Many of these immigrants originated from County Tyrone in north Belfast, Ireland which made up one third of Ulster Province at that time. In 1860, when Keystone Bridge replaced an earlier stone bridge over Beaver Creek that had been destroyed by a flood two years earlier, Greensburg became part of Blairmore Township just north of Pittsburgh along with other townships including New Kensington (later West Pennsburg), Clairton (later Rosslyn), Bloomfield (later Allentown), Wilkinsport (later Easton) and Monroeville (now our namesake town). At this time there were only eight municipalities within Allegheny County; all but two were added to the county following its creation on December 12th of that year when Pennsylvania became an independent country under President Abraham Lincoln’s proclamation as part of United States Territorynorthwest Kansas and Nebraska). As more residents started moving into rural areas outside of Pittsburgh during the late 1800s due to technological advancements such as machine translation capabilities created by German immigrant Johann Gutenberg or oil discovery discoveries off shore throughout America beginning around 1901 via Pioneer Drilling Company rigs operated outfitted with electric lights—the population density began decreasing rapidly throughout much OF Western PA until most communities experienced declines below 500 residents per square mile starting about 1910 until well before World War II when settlement patterns changed again due largely to war production needs resulting in increased population densities across muchOHwestern PA generally becoming greater than 1000 residents per square mile throughout muchof postwarAmerica prior to significantdeclinestartingaround 1950 primarily duetourban growth rates rather than resource depletion caused largely by environmental degradation

Greensburg is a town in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 9,724 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Allentown- Bethlehem-Easton, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Greensburg was founded in 1799 by George Washington and James Ross as Ross's Station on the Lehigh River. The first settler in Greensburg was John Young who arrived in 1799. He built a cabin on the south side of the creek that later became known as Young's Run. Other early settlers included Thomas Getchell, John Prentice and Abram Valentine. Henry Skilton settled near present day Greencastle and homesteaded land on what is now North High Street in 1807. The first school in Greensburg was called "Ross's Station" and opened on December 1, 1799 under the direction of George Washington. The school had twelve students including Washington and James Ross who were both teachers there for one year before moving to Easton where they started their own school there. In 1800, William Penn donated land to make room for a new school which would be named "Pennsylvania Academy." In 1802, Benjamin Rush started teaching at "Pennsylvania Academy." By 1810, all schools except for one were closed due to lack of pupils or money because of rising tuition rates at colleges across America caused by an influx of European immigrants during this time period known as "the great Awakening." On November 25th, 1812 US Congressman Isaac Asimov was born here while living with his parents (and future Supreme Court Justice) parents in nearby Allentown; he would spend much of his childhood in Greensburg until reaching age 10 when he moved with them to West Eggerstown Township where they lived until he turned 12 years old then returned home briefly before going back live with his family again until he turned 16 years old whereupon he moved permanently with them to Allentown). By 1840s most residents had abandoned rural life style due to increased competition from larger towns such as Reading (now Reading), Bethlehem (now Easton), York (now Harrisburg), Hazleton (now Wilkes-Barre) etc.; large areas within present day Greensburg township were developed into industrial regions such as Carnegie Steel mills etc.. Coal mining continued through the late 19th century but it slowly declined after railroads came along providing easier access to metals like coal from far away; many small mines continued operations up through World War II but closed down due to technological improvements making coal extraction difficult/impossible given today's global resources As mentioned earlier many residents left farming during this time periodquelenote: Anthony Riddle: - Anthony Riddle migrated from Ireland about 1800 settled near Greencastle began working shipping goods between Wilmingtonport & Philadelphia about 1830 quit when boatloads of Irish refugees came ashore following American Invasion Force’s defeat at Battle Of Brandywine Creek - About 1850 Riddle bought lots east side of Mill Creek & began building housingpunched out lots adjoining Log Cabin community thenceforth known as “Riddlesville”
