The first section of what would become Dennison Park was opened to the public in 1829 as part of a larger project designed to create an open space for public use within walking distance of downtowns across all counties in PA. Today, this park contains more than 20 miles (32 km) of hiking trails and includes baseball practice fields, tennis courts, football stadiums--the largest such complex westof Philadelphia--a zoo/theme park,, several restaurants including Jamba Juice and PNC Bank Stadium--and numerous small businesses including homebuilders Lennar Homes Incorporated (now Lennar Corporation) and Atwater Village Development Co.,Inc.-the former site of Bethlehem Steel Corp.'s main plant until it closed in 1999 due to relocations elsewhere-. In 1895–96 Cleveland Quakers donated land comprising what today forms much of north side streets between Third Street (now Jefferson Avenue) and Randolph Boulevard eastward from Second Street which they called Meeting House Square; ornamental ironwork by architect Edward Lighthouse Company associated with Friends Meeting House; First Presbyterian Church built thereon according to plans provided by local planner Alfred Kappagee; sculpture garden by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens onsite; cornerstone laid July 10th 1896 by Mayor Abram Hewitt attended by then Clerk Rufus Woldridge.. At various points during the 1920s various amusement parks were located within or near downtown: Six Flags America was located just southwest corner Third Street & High Bridge Road back then before relocation to Broadview Heights later that decade; Cedar Point amusement park was located northwest corner Ninth Avenue & Waterfront Drive circa 1925 while Keystone Lake Amusement Park – billed as “America’s Most Beautiful State Park” – opened later that year adjacent Canoe Landing Resort operated by brothers Fred Fuhrman & Maurice Berger – relocated from Bellefonte Township approximately 5 miles northeast along US 2 opposite Roanoke Rapids National Battlefield Preserve addition thereto beginning 1917
