The Earplug Company was founded in 1877 by Elias Howe and David W. Lange. The company became the first American manufacturer of ear plugs, with their first product, the "Ephrata" ear plug, being released in 1881. In 1902, the company moved its headquarters from Ephrata to Philadelphia. In 1924, the Earplug Company merged with Hennepin Bros., a Minneapolis-based clothing importer and retailer. The merger resulted in the creation of Hennepin-Earpod Manufacturing Corporation. In 1935, Hennepin-Earpod merged with Jaxon & Sons, Inc., a New York City based manufacturer of hearing aids and other technology products. In 1954, the Earplug Company merged with Allied Ear Products Corporation to form AlliedEarProducts Corporation (AEP). AEP manufactured various types of ear plugs including noise cancelling devices and children's ear plugs. AEP also developed many new hearing technologies such as cochlear implants and viral attacks protection technology. In 2000, AlliedEarProducts Corporation was acquired by Phillipsronics Incorporated (PHILLIPS) for $1 billion dollars. Phillipsronics has since announced plans to divest all its remaining assets within the next five years in order to focus on core products such as digital audio players and HDMI cables

Ephrata is a census-designated place in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Ephrata was founded in 1738 by priests from the Dutch Reformed Church and named for Ephratah in Genesis 34:7. Reverend John White who served as pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Ephrata (now known as First Unitarian Universalist Church) moved his congregation to what is now the town of Whitehall on Elk Creek in 1827. In 1837, Rev. James Hinton organized a church group at what is now Cross Keys Elementary School and called it "Ephrata." The first black person to be ordained an Episcopal priest in America preached at a services held at Second Presbyterian Church on May 30th, 1887 by Bishop George Wells of Newark. The post office that serves Ephrata opened on November 3rd, 1738 under the name "Socialdorp". On March 2nd, 1800, it changed its name to "Emmont" after General Robert Emmons who fought with Washington during the American Revolution. The first postmaster was Mr. Humphrey located just east of today's intersection of US 36 and I-95W near today's Walmart store site along US 360/I-95W Snoqualmie Falls Road (). On December 12th 1800 Samuel Burt established Post Office #2 southeast of present day Weimer Road (). A second post office which operated until 1865 was located northeast corner of present day North Avenue () and West Street (). A third post office established on October 14th 1865 which operated until 1890 (); this particular downtown building still stands (and currently houses local library). In 1892 Alfred Wigglesworth became Postmaster; he continued service until 1893 when mail began being delivered through Harrisburg(). In 1895 Drs Donald Macdonald and Harry Laughlin formed a partnership to open up businesses such as grocery stores and druggists near where they lived on Elmwood Avenue (), across from present day Weimer High School; these businesses are still extant today within walking distance of their original locations (Donald Macdonald's Store #1() north side entrance off current I-275), while Harry Laughlin's Store (#2()) south side entrance off current I-275 remains unaltered to this day! Mailing services were discontinued effective January 15th 1915 due to World War I but resumed operations August 16th 1945 when Ulysses S Grant delivered his Farewell Address from Pennsylvania Station including remarks about how important postal service had been during his presidency: "I am glad we have Postal Service here because without postal service our letter writing would not be possible...It must be remembered that every man has something valuable he needs mailed to him quickly and with certainty." On July 15th 1948 Congressman Bill Young presented legislation before Congress repealing regulations placed uponPostmasters by Franklin D Roosevelt during World War II; this act led directly to the establishment of USPS as an independent agency separate from government control originally envisioned by Congress only five years earlier! After passage through both Houses Of Congress USPS received its official charter dated September 26th 1950! Today there are over 650 employees working for USPS headquarters located inside one large building located adjacent to University Park since 1979! The town of Ephrata, Pennsylvania was founded in 1751 by George Washington and his father. The town was named for the Philadelphiastes ephratas, a small stream that ran through the area. The first settler in this area was John Forbes. In 1812, the United States acquired what is now Delaware County from Great Britain. As part of this acquisition, Ephrata became a part of the new territory. After the Civil War ended, many residents moved to Ohio or other states after being offered lands there if they agreed to secede from America. In 1865, when Pennsylvania became a state, it gained control over Delaware County and added it to its territory. On November 16th of that year, President Abraham Lincoln signed legislation creating Ephrata Township which contained most of present-day Delaware County as well as parts of Armstrong and Franklin counties. On May 1st , 1907, following passage of Act 107/27 (the "Ephrata School District Act"), all schoolchildren in what is now Delaware County were required to attend public schools within the newly created township boundaries instead of their individual home districts (although some children continued to attend private homes). This change came about because Pennsylvanians at that time were still primarily rural and did not have access to public education. The Township also erected a school building on State Road 12 near current day Mifflinburg in 1908 which served as both an elementary and high school until 1962 when it was replaced by the present-day Middlebury Elementary School complex on High Street just east of Interstate 79/US 30 (which borders Delaware County). The Township also built another large school complex on State Road 5 south-west of Mifflinburg in 1942 which served as both an elementary and high school before it was replaced by present-day Easton High School Complex on Bluefield Avenue southeast of Interstate 79/US 30 (which borders Armstrong county). In 1969 – 1970, two more large school complexes were erected; one on State Road 9 north-west of Mifflinburg and one on State Road 10 east-northeastof Mifflinburg . These complexes serve currently as Robinson Elementary School & Middlebury Jr./Sr./Jupiter Middle Schools while White Sands Elementary School will become operational later this year upon completion of infrastructure improvements funded through Amendment 2 passed last fall https://www2a2a1c5dd8cd7fe3edc9b6f4bfaaef3dee/. In recent years there has been discussion among township officials about whether or not to add back onto Old Forge Township since much land within Ephrata has already been annexed by other municipalities including Armstrong county with Ellicott City annexed even closer recently adding yet more land making old Forge redundant once again https://www1adbed2ccbfbca53eaeede49bece/. Ultimately decision about adding back onto Old Forge will come down next year after comprehensive plans are completed pursuant thereto
