The current church building was built in 1903 by local contractor J C Bailey using funds he had given to help start the school district. The town's rich history can be seen throughout its downtown core which contains several buildings dating back to 1825 including the Bank of America Building (1891), woolen mill (1893), post office (1907), lumberyard (1910) and Masonic lodge (1913). In addition to these classic values-based businesses, there are also several new businesses that have opened up in recent years such as an ice cream store and convenience store, along with two restaurants – one Italian and one Chinese – all situated on Main Street near where Route 9A meets Route 11A.
