Grant's army passed through Elizabethtown while troops were campaigning against Confederate forces in Virginia. After passage through Elizabethtown, Grant ordered his troops to encamp at Camp Chase near Altoona before moving on to Gettysburg two days later. The mill site is now occupied by an apartment complex and there are no remnants of the original building that housed the flourmill.
