Easton, Pennsylvania is a borough in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,731 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Allentown-Easton-Westmoreland, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that would become Easton was annexed by Bethlehem in 1788 and by Reading in 1801. In 1825, the area became part of the new town of Bethlehem Heights after a referendum passed by residents; it was not until 1881 that it was given its current name. The borough has been governed as a township since 1903. In 1788, when Bethlehem Heights was founded and remained an unincorporated community until 1881, one of its first residents was Nicholas Easton who came to America from England with his family in 1784. He built what is now known as Easton Manor on land he purchased from John Fenton for £200 sterling ($30 US). A post office called Easton Township began receiving mail on November 1, 1800, and continued to be operated under that name until February 14th of 1907 when it changed its name to Bethlehem Township due to the incorporation of nearby Westmoreland Borough into Lehigh County. The first settler in what would become Easton Township (now part of Allentown) was Nicholas Easton who arrived there with his family in 1784 and built what is now known as Easton Manor on land he purchased from John Fenton for £200 sterling ($30 US). There are several notable buildings located within the borders of today's easternmost borough: "Easton Hall" which stands today at 4154 York Road about midway between Center City and Northampton Streets also known as "The Mansion", "Fenton's Tower" which can be seen southwest along York Road between Center City Streets and Northampton Street just east of Interstate 81 / I-181 junction Toll Plaza at 4342 York Road also once known as "Headquarters". A variety of businesses were established around this time including Anthony Manger & Son - still open today - tannery running pigs (later sheep), blacksmithing shops such as Sweeny's forge/forge yard opposite present day Market Square Shopping Center soon afterwards moving across center square onto present day Spring Garden Avenue where they remain active to this day; local physician Dr Samuel Morse opened his practice near center square back then also later becoming wellknown for providing health services throughout Lehigh County through various means including clinics etc., latterly moved out into newer facility off route 202 near Present Day FirstEnergy Stadiums interchange both before AND after game days respectively; general store still operates down line beside intersection with Route 202 main street good place to find milk eggs cheese etc.; Evangelical Reformed Church (ERC) congregation formed here circa 1889 soon thereafter followed by their own church building completed 1895 nicelyAn additional early business activity Fields Greetings Cards Company honey Comer Candle making type Not Available

Easton is a small town in Pennsylvania, located in the Susquehanna Valley. The population was 7,500 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Reading Township community of Easton. The first people to live here were Native American. In 1785, John Dickinson and his wife, Esther, founded a trading post on what is now known as West Street in present-day Easton. They named their settlement after Isaac Asbury, an Englishman who had come to America in 1795 and helped found what is today Philadelphia. In 1814, General George Washington's army spent the night here while marching through the Susquehanna Valley between Harrisburg and Yorktown. In 1847, Eastern Railroad was built from Pittsburgh to Bethlehem via Easton and its current location on North Church Street. This improved access to markets in central Pennsylvania for farmers living near the river.
Easton was founded in 1795 by John Easton and his wife Judith. The town grew quickly, and in 1854, it became the county seat of Lancaster County. In 1912, the town was annexed to Duquesne County.
