Easton is a borough in York County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,824 at the 2010 census. Easton is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Easton were the French in 1639 and 1643. In 1784, Englishman John Forbes built a sawmill on the South Branch of the Susquehanna River. In 1814, following American independence from Great Britain, Easton became a part of Pennsylvania as part of the new state. In 1837, land was purchased by Abraham Morse and his brother-in-law Jesse Willcox for $1 million near present day Scranton. They laid out a town called Morseville on what is now State Road 727 east of their farmstead known as "Morseville Hill". The town was named after them and their father, Ebenezer Morse Sr., who had been instrumental in developing it. The first village meeting was held on December 8th, 1837 when there were only 10 people living in Morseville. On May 15th of that same year, an act was passed by the PA General Assembly creating villages within each township: Easton (date unknown), Derry Township (dated January 6th 1840), Wilkes-Barre Township (dated February 20th 1840), Lebanon Township (dated March 9th 1840), Westmoreland Borough (dated July 14th 1841) and Springdale Borough (dated October 4th 1841). On November 1st 1861 residents voted to change their name to Easton after Major General John Fenton's Creek Bridge across the Monongahela River in Philadelphia which opened on October 25th that year

Easton, Pennsylvania is a small town in the United States located in Chester County. The population was 21,912 at the 2010 census. It lies on the southern border of Philadelphia. The first permanent settler in what is now Easton was James Robertson who founded a cabin near present-day intrinsboro Township on November 25, 1784. In 1814, David Wilson and his brother John built a log cabin near what is now Springettsville. In 1825, William Armstrong moved from Great Britain to settle in Easton and started a tannery which still operates today as Armstrong's Tannery & Sales Company. In 1828, the First Baptist Church was organized and soon became one of the most important religious organizations in Easton with over 1,000 baptized members by 1830. The first schoolhouse was built in 1840 and remained in use until 1914 when it burned down. The area that is now Easton was originally part of Susquehanna Township but were taken over by Chester County on February 14th, 1800 as part of the enlargement of the county following Decisive War II (1812-1815). On July 1st, 1827, Chester County appointed George Stephenson as its first Superintendent of Schools and repaired many schools throughout central Pennsylvania which then became known as " Stephenson's School District". By 1830 there were only 12 residents living within present day Easton limits while 2 miles to the north neighbor Dickinson had a population of 10 people! sir George Stephenson supervised construction projects for improving roadways and bridges along with also providing instruction to farmers on farming techniques during this time period including: ditching systems; raising barns/buildings; plowing land; planting crops etc... He also supervised construction work forSize 15 shoes manufacturing company established by Andrew Dickson at Factory Site #2 south side Lancaster Road east of Lower Merion Creek where he lived from about 1850 until his death in 1892 . As superintendent George Stephenson created new roadsides improvements such as curves that would later be used by other developers during this time period such as Harry Halstead who developed Southwick Meadows . One such change made to UPPER RIDGE ROAD after his inauguration was making curbside parking illegal so horse drawn wagons could no longer be used for deliveries
