Easton is a town in Centre County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,539 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Centre County and home to Easton Regional High School. The first settlement in what is now Easton was made on the east bank of the Susquehanna River by two brothers, John and Peter Parker. They named their new village "Parkerstown" after themselves and their brother-in-law, James Park. In 1795, John Parker sold his interest in the village to George Washington Parke for £200 sterling. Both men were among the original settlers of what would become Easton. In 1802, Easton became part of Cumberland County when that county was created from parts of Pennsylvania and Maryland. In 1814, it became part of York County when that county was created from parts of Cumberland and Lancaster Counties. On December 12, 1824 – during Andrew Johnson's presidency – Congress passed an act splitting off Monmouth County from York County so that eastern York could be developed as a separate entity within the United States without having to comply with state regulations about interlocking counties. On February 8, 1828 – during Matthias Corbett's gubernatorial campaign – Easton voters approved a resolution ratifying a merger between Erie Township and nearby Williamsburg Township which had occurred eight months earlier because those towns were too close for voting to be done either way on separate ballots due to lack of space at the polls due to growth in both areas since annexation by Erie Township two years earlier; this merger formed what is known today as Easton Township (approximately equal in size) around which all other villages within present day Easton municipality grew subsequent). At its incorporation as a township on April 6th 1830 (just over one year after Wyoming Valley),EastON had an estimated population numbering just under 775 individuals! Today’s population numbers more than 10K residents including almost 4K children! Prior to 1800 there were no permanent settlements located near present day Easton PA except for one family who built a log cabin on Beaver Run Creek in 1792/93 while hunting deer The Pardons moved out about 1800 but left some crops behind They also may have taken some animals with them One settler briefly lived near where we now parkerstown before moving away again around 1800

In 1814, Easton was incorporated as a borough. During the 19th century, Easton experienced growth as a manufacturing center and its economy slowly changed from agricultural to industrial. In the 1950s and 1960s, Easton experienced significant social changes as it became an ethnically diverse city with large African American populations.
