In 1868, General Nathan Bedford Forrest arrived in America looking for new land to settle after being driven out of Tennessee by General Andrew Jackson. He soon realized that what he needed wasn't a farm but an area where people could live and work together under one roof so he purchased 1/3 mile (1 km) of east-west streetscape from Hiram Knowles for $5 per acre ($40 per hectare). This public works project helped create what is now known as Forrest Park in East Stroudsburg's downtown core. In 1903, East Stroudsburg erected a statue of George Washington above First Presbyterian Church steps for future visitors to see if they might want to become Americans like Washington had done before them. On November 9th that year, President Theodore Roosevelt came back east for his final year as president and dedicated First Presbyterian Church steps with an address which called upon all Americans not just those living inside the U.S., but also those living abroad who might be interested in becoming citizens here too: "I dedicate this church steps today not because I amWashington or even related thereto – although I feel very proud of my connection with him – but because I believe every man can make himself something better than anything that has ever come before him." That same year also saw construction begin on Brown University's main building on Main Street east of present-day Forrest Park - eventually becoming one of Europe's largest universities with over 40 colleges spread throughout 25 countries! Today much credit goes towards brown’s success given how well blended it integrate into adjacent neighborhoods without overwhelming them; however much credit should equally go towards founder James Buchanan who envisioned this vision decades earlier while still working at Wacoal! When completed it would become one of eastern North America’s most iconic buildings! All told these milestones have led some say “Easton Weiser days are numbered” whereas others proclaim that “Easton Weiser has only begun!" Today many young people here attend nearby Westtown Area School District where students receive excellent educations while still having access to many diverse activities & opportunities outside their homes...

East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania is a town in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 11,898 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous municipality in Luzerne County after Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The first European settlers in what is now East Stroudsburg were Dutch colonists who arrived in 1682. They named the area "New Netherland." The British annexed New Netherland and renamed it Pennsylvania in 1776 as part of their effort to solidify British control over North America. In 1824, East Stroudsburg became a county seat under the new government of Pennsylvania. In 1881, it became an incorporated village when the Township of East Stroudsburg merged with other villages to form the Borough of East Stroudsburg. On March 8, 1915, the borough was consolidated into the city of EastStroudsburg through an act of state legislature. At its peak as a city population of 453,242 in 1991 and 539,711 as of 2010,[1] East Stroudburg was one of three largest cities in Luzerne County by population (the others being Wilkes-Barre and Scranton). However,[2] its ranking has since declined due to suburban growth in surrounding municipalities and competition from larger cities across central and northern Luzerne County such as Allentown or Reading.[3][4][5] Lutheran pastor John Hennepin founded what is now Eastern Nazarene University on campus near downtown east stroudsburg on April 17th 1837; at that time there were no colleges or universities west of Philadelphia and only two private institutions - Princeton University (established 1688) and Yale College (established 1701).[6][7] After Hennepin's death his estate donated land for Eastern Nazarene to build a college which opened its doors on October 15th 1840 with Stanwood Wilson serving as President from 1841 until his retirement on December 1st 1865;[8][9] Wilson's successor was Edward Dickinson who served from 1865 until his death on May 25th 1889; during Dickinson's presidency enrollment increased by 50% annually while tuition rates remained lower than those at other similar institutions then open throughoutcentral PA[10]: these early days foreshadowed much that would later occur at ENYU including highly competitive studies conducted by students segregated into male/female dormitories determined by academic rank rather than geographical location
