After years of growth following incorporation into borough status, Dunmore passed its first ordinance granting voting rights to women on November 4th 1859 . The Borough adopted its current name – Borough of Dunmore – on October 11th 1865 when it became one hundred percent female suffrage after ratification of an act by both houses of Congress granting voting rights to all citizens over 21 years old regardless of race or sex .
