On October 16, 1795, Dunmore gun company was founded in Dunmore Township. The company operated a number of shotguns and handguns. In 1819, the company purchased a rifle from James Hoggarty. On December 4, 1821, the gun company lost its charter due to financial problems. The following year, thegun company merged with neighboring Klingenwasser gun Company to form Klingenwasser-Dunmore Gun Company.

It features several businesses such as Forstner's Furniture & Appliances (a furniture store), ParkRide amusement park (a Theme Park), Village Hall (an old brick building used as a library), and many small businesses that provide services such as plumbing or lawn care. Additionally, there are numerous cultural organizations which meet monthly at Village Hall for programming including art exhibitions and music concerts.

This prosperity continued into the 21st century; over the years, Dunmore has seen many impressive growth projects undertaken by its citizens including expanding its downtown district (which has since been renamed 'The Main Street District'), creating new parks and neighborhoods alike, becoming home to several world-renowned institutions including Drexel University (who have led nearby Penn's Landing into becoming one of Philly's top academic destinations), and more recently hosting numerous events throughoutranching Pennsylvania like the Keystone XL Pipeline inauguration ceremony (whose participants enjoyed free parking within city limits).
