On November 3rd 1920 residents of DunMORE organized themselves into their present borough form when they ratified a bylaw granting themself police powers thereby creating a municipal government with representation through elected officials rather than individual landowners who had jurisdiction only within their own homes/property lines... In 1933 Mr John Purdy erected another two story frame house on lot No .1 within The Orchard District boundaries - this house still stands today serving as Headquarters for both School Board Meetings (along with occasional Fourth Of July displays) & Police Department functions! It should be noted that while many beautiful structures have been standing in thissmall town since it formed almost 250 years ago many residents have passed away including Mrs John Purdy who died last year age 98 years old

Dunmore is a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,681 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The community was founded by General George Washington and his army during the French and Indian War. Dunmore is located on the north bank of the Allegheny River, about 20 miles east of Pittsburgh. The first settlers in what would become Dunmore were soldiers from nearby Fort Pitt who marched to this location in 1757 to join General Washington's forces in their war against France. Alexander MacKenzie established a trading post here in 1762 after he discovered oil seeps near present-day Dunmore village. In 1827, John Dennison donated land for a school and gristmill which became one of downtown Dunmore's most prominent landmarks. A Presbyterian church was built here in 1836 and additions were made to it over time until it became an Episcopal church in 1906. On July 4th, 1898, during World War I, American forces burned down the old Presbyterian church as part of an effort to torpedoe German U-boats lying off shore; this event is commemorated by a plaque on the building today. In 1950s Dunmore experienced rapid population growth due to its proximity toPittsburgh; however, much of its later growth came from auto manufacturing plants that moved into the area after World War II..
