Columbia, Pennsylvania is known for its shooting ranges and target holders. The range began in 1884 as a hunting ground for the Susquehanna Mountains. It was later leased to the Columbian Rifle and Pistol Club, which made it available to the public. In 1906, the club moved to its current location on Front Street in Columbia. The range has been used for target practice by the public since then. The Columbian Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1886 by seven men who pooled their money to buy a rifle and pistols from Europe. They used this equipment at their home range until 1907 when they moved to a larger site on Front Street in Columbia. In 1911, they shifted their operations to an armory on High Street in Columbia after being granted a permit from the Pennsylvania Game Commission. This allowed them to produce rifles with sights and hand-guns with stocks that could be carried without fear of theft or damage. In 1932, members of the Columbian Rifle and Pistol Club decided to sell their assets including the armory andrange operation to George Wiggin who kept it open as a Shooting Range & Museum until his death in 1984. The museum features guns from various periods of Columbiana history along with information about how they were used. It also houses exhibits about gun control laws in America during that time period

Columbia is a small town in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Allentown- Bethlehem-Easton, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded by Nicholas Pennoyer and his brother John in 1807 as a separate settlement on the east side of the Susquehanna River. It was named for Columbia Creek which flows through it. In 1813, Columbian School District No. 2 was formed from parts of Clearfield Township and West Dunmore Township to serve the growing community on the west side of the river. On July 4, 1853, Columbian School District No. 2 merged with Clearfield Township to form Clearfield County Boroughs No. 1 and 2 and Columbian became its name once again When all of Pennsylvania became an organized state in 1787, Columbiana remained unorganized until it incorporated as a borough in 1853 under act approved by the General Assembly In 1863 when Union troops burned down Lancaster's Masonic Lodge #2 during their raid against Confederate forces near Gettysburg military commissioners ordered that all Masonic Lodge property be seized including Columbia's two lodges which operated openly without government regulation until they were closed by order of President Abraham Lincoln following riots at these properties in 1865 Columbia residents fought valiantly during World War I providing munitions for their country while also caring for wounded soldiers at home
In 1795, the town of Columbia was organized as a township in Berks County. On November 3, 1851, it became a borough. In 1875, it became an independent city. On September 15, 1905, it merged with the neighboring borough of Wyomissing to form the new city of Lancaster.
