The students were upset with how their parents had educated them into what they thought was a “ Westernized” lifestyle- one which they felt didn’t reflect their own values or traditions! Despite having little success at changing minds among their classmates (most agreed with the protesters), this case serves as an excellent example about how two groups can come together to protest something without offending anyone else- something that we all should be mindful of when any typeOf social interaction occurs online/offline!

The first settler in what is now Columbia was James McGillivray who came to what is now Carbon County in 1796 with his wife and five children. He named his new land "Columbia" after Lexington, Kentucky, where he had been born two years earlier. In 1838, Columbia became a borough and experienced an increase in population due to the opening of the anthracite coal mines there. This growth led to increased development within the borough which included the construction of several homes for export from Columbia township including one on Beaver Creek Road today known as McKee House. The anthracite coal mines closed during World War II but left a lasting legacy on Columbian society as many residents were integral in helping to restart these mines after the war. Today, many people still live close to anthracite coal mine operations while others commute into larger cities for work opportunities there or outside of America for work within global companies that have presence here. Today, Columbia is home to several churches scattered throughout its downtown area as well as shopping centers and restaurants that serve up some of Pennsylvania's most popular foods such as chicken-fried steak and macaroni & cheese among others. Its Main Street business district remains one of its most vibrant areas with numerous small businesses lining both sides of Main Street from Boulevard eastward all the way until it meets PA Route 11 near mile marker 21st street just west of Steeles Avenue/Route 11 interchange
The area now known as Columbia, Pennsylvania was long inhabited by the Lenape Native American tribe. In 1778, the British established a military post in what is now Columbia Township and named it Fort Pitt. The fort was abandoned in 1781 after the Battle of Saratoga. In 1814, explorer John Cranch explored the Susquehanna River and reached its headwaters in what is now Columbia Township. While exploring this area, he discovered gold resources which led to his mining operations in that location. After his explorations, Cranch donated land to the state of Pennsylvania for a public square on top of his discoveries. In 1856, Congress passed an act that provided for the creation of a new township within Columbia County from parts of Blair and Westmoreland counties. The name Columbiana was chosen for this new township because it resembled Latin words meaning "white hued." The first settler in Columbiana Township was George Washington Cary who arrived there with his family in 1857.
