Coatesville is a small town in Pennsylvania, United States. It was founded in 1819 by General John Forbes and his family. The town has a population of about 630 people today. The first settlers to Coatesville were the Forbeses, who arrived in 1819 from Scotland. The name "Coatesville" was derived from Colonel Isaac Coates, an officer in the British Army during the American Revolution. The first store in Coatesville was operated by Elijah Price and His Sons. In 1822, Nicholas Sperry opened a grocery store on Main Street. That same year, George Cram built a blacksmith shop on Third Street. A post office was established at Coatesville in 1825, and it remained open until 1863 when it was discontinued due to lack of mail service. A school had been established at Coatesville by1827 but failed to meet the needs of the community because of finances limitations set by Congress for rural schools. A new school building was erected on High Street between 1861 and 1865 by Elisha Hartsfield and his wife Sarah Hartsfield (née Haskell). The original building still stands today as part of the Township Hall Complex/School District Office Building complex located within Penn Hills Regional Park adjacent to High School #2 across from Rector's Chapel which housed both public grade school classrooms (#1-3) as well as grades 4-8 after 2 stories addition with 3 rooms upstairs including one large gymnasium with a wrestling room/sportatorium (it burned down on May 12th 1886), 2 library rooms one being specially constructed for music education purpose having 1 floor below ground level & 8 overhead galleries richly panelled walls covered with carved marble cornices depicting friendly scenes from Greek mythology all around; this building also contains many antiques which include 6 Corinthian columns (& 5 Ionic capitals) each weighing over 25 pounds each spanned around an octagonally shaped base typical of those period buildings Additionally there are several fine examples built c 1860’s such as: One Gothic Revival style Queen Anne type house now used as #9 Storefront @ corner 3rd St & Market St.; This two story wood frame structure has five bays wide + 2 full width bays added beneath entablature giving it 4 bay sides remaining Romanesque Revival Style; Another two story wood frame structure now used as #11 Storefront @ corner 3rd St & Market St., again having 5 bays wide + 2 full width bays added underneath entablature giving it 4 bay sides remaining Second Empire Style; still another two story wood frame structure currently used as #14 Storefront @ corner 3rd St & Market St., having 5 bays wide + 2 fullwidthbays added underneath entablature giving it 4bay sides remaining These structures all date back to between 1860-1875 inclusive! There are numerous other similar buildings that can be found throughout our Township!

Coatesville was a small town in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 993 at the 2010 census. It is named after William Coates, an early settler. The first known record of Coatesville is in 1784 when James Cook and his family arrived from England. At that time, the area was part of York County. In 1811, John Cook settled here and built the first house in what would become Coatesville. He also founded the Baptist church in 1812. The surrounding area became settled by Germans in the mid-19th century and began to grow as a agricultural community; many of those who came here were farmers or mechanics. By 1860, there were over 100 people living in Coatesville. during this time period large mills were constructed nearby including one called The Gristmill which processed lumber for local use and exported to Philadelphia and other parts of America. In 1868, settlers from nearby Allentown (now Reading) formed a company to purchase land east of present day Coatesville for a new town site; they named it Allentown Township after their home town. The township was organized on February 14, 1870 and its first meeting took place at the home of Ebenezer Whitehead." During World War II much activity took place at nearby Poconos Forge munitions plant which employed up to 1,000 workers during hostilities; most often men working long hours on dangerous tasks in difficult conditions under extremely hazardous conditions while exposed to mustard gas and radiation hazards

The town's economy grew in the 19th century as industries such as agriculture and manufacturing developed around it. A small library was established in Coatesville in 1907 and a water supply system was installed in 1912. The installation of these services helpedCoatesville become one of the most developed towns in central Pennsylvania during this period.
