Chambersburg is a city in and the county seat of Chambersburg County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 12,711 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1789 as a small frontier settlement named for its founder George Washington. By 1800, Chambersburg had become one of the largest settlements in the area. In 1868, it became part of the newly created Pittsburgh metropolitan area. In 1889, John Fenton Chambers purchased land east of what is now downtown Chambersburg and began development of what would become his largest business venture; an iron works that he named "Fenton Iron Works". The company produced locomotives for both local and national railroads until it closed its doors in 1935. During World War II, local businesses helped support military production by donating items such as machines or parts. One such business - Blythe Furniture - donated furniture to American soldiers stationed in Europe during the war. After hostilities ended, many businesses closed but some continued to operate as veteran-owned businesses into the 21st century including: American Legion Post #2 (now known as Gruman's), Donnybrook Farms Dairy (now known as KFC), First National Bank (now HSBC) and Magness Pizza Place (later Papa John's). Today, Chambersburg remains a vibrant community with active economic growth that continues to benefit both its residents and its businesses!

Chambersburg is a city in and the county seat of Cambria County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 30,871 at the 2010 census. Chambersburg is the largest city in Cambria County and one of the few remaining townships within the Philadelphia– borough of Kensington-Easton–Norristown, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent European settlement in what became today Cambria County was made by German immigrants who founded a small community called Königsberg on March 15, 1765. One year later, on April 25th, 1766, another group of Germans established a town called Weisbaden near present-day Allentown. The first settler to be given land in what would become Chambersburg Township was Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Schlosser on November 16th of that same year. Schlosser had come from Rheinhausen am Main as part of a group seeking to purchase 640 acres (247 ha) along the Susquehanna River for $10 per acre ($2 million at current prices). He named his new township after himself, which eventually became Chambersburg Township and Chalfont Township were created following his death in 1802. In 1814 John Singleton Morgan purchased 3 square miles (8 km²) within present-day Chambersburg Township for $1 per acre ($4 million at current prices). Morgan played an important role in helping start up Pennsylvania's railroads and donated much of his holdings to help support these efforts. In 1829 he also donated land to form what would become Lancaster University with initial revenuesgenerated from timber exports from his property providing some stability during difficult times. By 1830 over 100 businesses had been erected around downtown Streetsboro including several stores which remain active today such as Goudreau's General Store and Wernick's store still located on Fourth Street between Market Street and High StreetToday many people know about this period during our history because when we were attacked by Union soldiers outside our courthouse late one evening in 1865 they burned it down just like so many other things throughout those years

It is the county seat of Chambersburg County and home to the University of Pittsburgh. The community was founded by George Washington in 1795 as a trading post on the Susquehanna River. In 1814, it became the capital of what would become Chambersburg County. The city's current name first appeared on November 3, 1881 when it was incorporated as a borough within Chambersburg City limits. On January 1, 1903, it became an independent municipality and changed its name to Chambersburg after James B. Chambers (1817-1902), one of the incorporators of Philadelphia Business Men's Bank and Trust Company and later president of Mellon bank fame. In 1924, the city annexed part of Greensboro Township which had been part of Huntingdon Borough since 1901. In 1930, Bradford Township was annexed but again reverted back to Huntingdon Borough on December 2nd due to lack of voter turnout in that year's annexation referendum. On October 7th 1937 ground broke for what would become ultimately Penn State’s largest campus in history when construction began on Beaver Stadium – then known as Beaver Valley Stadium – located adjacent to present day Brown Park in downtown Chambersburg
