The first gun target in Carlisle was a blacksmith shop. This target was erected in 1812 and has been standing to this day. The second target was built in 1814 and is still standing today. It is a three-gun model, made by John Millington of Manchester, England. A replica of this target can be found at the Carlisle Heritage Museum. The third target was erected in 1824 and is also still standing today. It is a four-gun model, made by Daniel G/Hale of London. In 1830, the town moved its primary school from where it previously stood to what is now the Civic Center square. To commemorate this event, a plaque reading "Erected In Memory Of The School House Which Was First Built In Carlisle On The Site Of The Present Day Municipal Hall" was placed on the building that same year. In 1865, an addition to the old school house were built two gun targets known as “The Big Ben” and “Little Ben” which continue to stand to this day as one of the most popular targets in town today!

The town of Carlisle in Pennsylvania was host to the first American gunfight on American soil, when a group of British regulars attacked a group of Americans at the Susquehanna River in 1777. The battle resulted in the death of six Americans, including George Washington.
Carlisle, Pennsylvania is a town in Pike County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first European to set foot in Carlisle was Nicholas Swett in 1795. He built a trading post on the Susquehanna River and named it after his home town of Canterbury, England. In 1814, Samuel Morse established a telegraph line from Philadelphia to Morristown with two stations in Lancaster County. Morse believed that signals could be sent only if they were transmitted over open ground where people and animals could see them. To make sure that he was sending messages correctly, he constructed an office building in Carlisle to serve as a control center for his lines. In 1821, commissioners from Pittsburgh decided to cede land east of the Monongahela River to form what would become Carlisle Township. The township had a population of 730 when it was organized and its first president was John Fenton Jr.. In 1850, the borough of Greensburg merged into Carlisle Borough; however, Greensburg's municipal government continued to operate until 1889 when it became part of Pittsburg borough again. The borough seat changed three times between 1850 and 1890: once to Butler (now Squirrel Hill), then back to Carlisle before finally moving back into Greensburg in 1907-08 duringPittsburgh's annexation process by Pittsburghs larger cityhood. In 1950-51 Bethlehem Steel Corporation moved its corporate headquarters from Greenville (then Altoona) in central Pennsylvania to Carlisle after purchasing adjacent properties including steel mills at Factory Point and Mononoke Heights within minutes of one another across the river from Greensburg proper on West Shore Drive near Allentown Airport Waypoint which served both cities as business districts through their shared airport services until deregulation created separate air carriers serving each city . Guns became more advanced over time and now they are used to shoot arrows, bows, cannons, and other projectiles. There are many different types of gun targets that can be found throughout history. Some target shooters prefer traditional target targets that look like real objects to shoot at through a scope or rifle’s magnification. Other target shooters like to use virtual reality technology to recreate actual shooting scenarios on their computer screens. There are two primary types of gun targets: modern-day handguns and old-fashioned muskets. Both types of targets can be shot with both rifles and shotguns when there is a good range available. It took many years for the development of muskets to make it possible to shoot targets at close range, so this first gun target was only used as a training ground for artillerymen.
Carlisle is a small town in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It was first settled by Germans in the early 17th century, and has been represented in the United States Congress since 1775. The community is located in Butler County, about 26 miles (41 km) northeast of Pittsburgh. As of the 2010 census, Carlisle had a population of 914. The earliest settlers to Carlisle were Germans who arrived from Germany in 1668. They founded a small community on the Susquehanna River near present-day PA Route 19 and PA Route 309. That settlement grew into an sizable village, which became known as "Carlingford". In 1724, the Swedish colonists built a fort at what is now Carlingford Creek to protect their newly acquired land south of the Monongahela River. English settlers began arriving in large numbers during the early 18th century, and by 1800 there were more than 100 German families living in Carlisle. By 1830, however, most Germans had left for other parts of Pennsylvania or Ohio due to persecution from British officials during that era. In 1827, white actor/vaudeville comedian Amos 'Moe' Boggs came to Carlisle with his family for vacation; he later commented that this was probably one of the few times he ever saw people wearing pants (he always wore overalls). He formed a popular theatrical troupe called "The Gilded Age Boys" here and entertained troops stationed at Fort Mifflin during World War I before returning home to America in 1919. In 1928–29 Moe's son Moe Jr.'s comedy act toured Great Britain as part of what was then known as "The American Tour." When it came time for him to return home after touring Europe he found that his father's death had caused much social unrest among his fellow Germans – many felt they'd been taken advantage of while attending college abroad – so Moe Jr.'s comeback tour ended abruptly before it even started. However, prior to his death in 1984 Moe II made several appearances live on PBS' "Frontier Justice". Some local residents still refer to Moe Jr.'s final appearance as "the last show." By 1870 there were only 150 inhabitants living within present-day boundaries of Carlingford Village; but due largely to advances made by transportation methods such as railroad travel and mail service available through towns such as Erie and Lancaster County combined with increasing trade between those areas and Philadelphia (and vice versa), growth continued unabated until well into the 20th century when larger settlements began popping up all around Butler County throughout this period (e.g., Boonton). In 1925–26 postmaster John Dickey built an addition onto Carlingford's original courthouse building which served as both post office and jail; today it serves as public school district headquarters building across from town square (pictured right). During World War II various munitions plants were established within or adjacent to Carlingford including: Tractor Factory No 1 at Bellefonte operated by DuPont; Bethlehem Steel Works at Bellefonte operated by Bethlehem Iron & Coal Co.; Army Ammunition Plant No 3 at Horseshoe Curve operated by Ullman Rubber Company; General Motors Corp's Flint Hills site east of town produced gasoline engines used primarily by USAAF units stationed nearby at Scranton Airpark; Lehighton Arsenal employed over 4500 workers creating one third Pennsylvania's total employment output during WWII Production peaked at 10% annual growth rate but declined precipitously following endofwar recession In 1951–52 physician Dr Edward Janssen established residency training programs for medical personnel being developed pursuant to Title X legislation enacted then authorizing federal matching funds for states w/in their Medicaid expansion slots providing health care services theretoforchronic patients without long term hospitalization or dependency upon state government assistance . Since its inception Janssen Residents have provided primary care services within our communities utilizing evidenced based interventions strategies including physical activity therapy diagnosis management treatment prognosis nursing motherhood support services eldercare services etc.) Dr Edward Janssen passed away unexpectedly on September 25th 2017 after spending many years caring for our patients & Hospitals across our area
The town of Carlisle, Pennsylvania was first settled in 1795 by Scots-Irish immigrants. The community grew rapidly and soon became a center for trade and industry. By 1814, Carlisle had become an important railroad junction and the town's economy flourished. In 1868, the city of Philadelphia annexed Carlisle and many of its residents moved to the new city. However, the community continued to thrive and experienced rapid growth during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Today, Carlisle is one of the fastest-growing communities in Pennsylvania.
