The early history of the Butler gun sling dates back to 1797 when Nicholas Butler, a mercenaries in the service of General Washington, invented and patented a device that allowed guns to be fired from long distances. The patent was filed in New York and was granted on December 2, 1797. The following year, Butler made his first successful demonstration of the weapon at a ball game between Armstrong's Regiment and George Washington's Regiment. In 1805, Nicholas Butler married Anna Maria Kappenbach and moved to what is now known as West Allis Township in Butler County, Pennsylvania. There he began manufacturing his own gun slings. In 1811, he produced the first ever handgun sling design which incorporated a buttstock and recoil system similar to those used today. Butler'sGun Slings continued production until 1848 when they were replaced by Western Gun Sling Company products due to their lower quality control standards.
Butler is a town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,584. The median home price in Butler was $127,000. The community began as a small log cabin on the banks of the Susquehanna River. In 1812, John Butler founded what became Butler and started trading with other villages on the Susquehanna River. The first school in Butler was built in 1814 by John Crouse and is still used today as part of Central High School. In 1830, Ephraim Burritt removed all but 350 acres (190 km2) of forested land to make way for his gristmill that produced flour for local markets and also made bricks for new construction in nearby towns such as Allentown and Bethlehem. In 1836-37, James Fox purchased some additional acreage from Burritt to form Fox Chapel Township (later Preble Township). This area included much of current Butler County and parts of Huntingdon County. By 1840, most of what is now Kane's Mill Road had been developed as homesites around the mill buildings erected by locals throughout this time period including Samuel Kane himself who operated an early post office in what is now Community Bank Park close to where his later Masonic Hall stands today. By 1860-61 only about one-third of current Kelly's Run Road remained undeveloped when David Muhlenberg arrived from Ohio to open his mill there which soon became known as "Muhlenberg's Mills". At that time there were no roads or telephone lines so residents relied upon horse drawn carts or wagons to get around town; however these limitations soon disappeared when Muhlenberg built a road running through town connecting it with Interstate 80 just northwest of town - making it possible for people living within easy walking distance of any business or service to achieve economic independence without ever having TOOK public transportation!

Of the total population only 4% were black or African American while 96% are white or European-American; 1% Native American and 0% Asian Pacific Islander reside within Butler Township limits. As of 2000, there were 3 non-Hispanic whites living in Butler Township: 235 persons (0%) who were single track citizens or residents who did not have any dependents; 5 households consisting of just one person each which included one white person and one black person who both worked for their families full time outside their homes; and 9 households with five or more individuals which included two white people and four black people working full time outside their homes on various trades/occupations including agriculture/farming, construction/maintenance services etc.; these totals do not include any households that may fall into this category as they contain only individuals who live here permanently without work rights or status as family members
Butler was founded in 1795 by James Butler, an American Revolutionary War veteran. The town became a census-designated place (CDP) in 1980.
