In 1900, Butler had a population of just over 1000 people. Today, the town has a population of just under 350 people and it is one of the most rural towns in PA. Butler is located about 25 miles south of Pittsburgh and 15 miles north of Philadelphia. The town is bordered by Armstrong County to the east, Carbon County to the west, and Northumberland County to the north. Butler’s climate is humid continental with temperatures ranging from 68-75 degrees Fahrenheit year-round. Because of this weather conditions, much work takes place outside during winter when temperatures are below freezing or when there are snowflakes on the ground. The economy of Butler depends largely on agriculture and natural resources such as coal and timber. Farming activities include corn farming, wheat farming, hay farming, soybean farming, sugar beets/crab apples production (based on crop rotation), dairy production (including cheese manufacturing), poultry operations (includes chicken coops and eggs), and other related businesses including lumberyards/timber yards/paper mills etc.. There are also some small businesses providing services such as plumbing/construction services etc., which have helped maintain some level of economic stability for residents over time.

Butler, Pennsylvania is a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania and it is the seat of Butler Township. The population was 1,965 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Butler Township were farmers who came from England in the late 18th century. They started out by cultivating land around what are now the towns of Moon and Monroeville. When they began to grow crops, they needed to find a way to get their products to market. One solution was horse-drawn transportation. So when one of these farmers decided to build a mill on his farm in 1839, he did so with help from some other Englishmen who had come over as traders. In 1876, when Pittsburgh was founded, it became an important center for business and industry because its location near Lake Erie made it an ideal place for shipping goods across the water. This created a demand for goods that would have been impossible to produce anywhere else In order to meet this demand, several businesses were built downtown including mills, warehouses and factories. One such business was J & W Frick's grocery store which opened its doors in 1890s on Market Street between Elm and Chestnut Streets The oil boom during World War II led to increased production of plastics and other materials at nearby Seagram's Corporation which required large amounts of raw material be transported long distances over dangerous roadsides on barges called "ships without crew" or "shell ships". As more Processing plants were built along I-787 (the precursor of today's interstate highway system) traffic congestion grew increasingly unbearable for locals driving into town on Interstate 80 just east of town Limits then continuing east on Route 7 until you reached I-787 where you turned southbound onto I-787/Route 7 returning home after spending all day inside your car! Consequently many residents left Butler Township during this time period leading up until present day when only 3% (or less)of total population still lives there
