He soon became successful enough to open his own practice and founded the First National Bank of Bloomsburg which still exists today. In 1839, Frederick Augustus Wright came to Bloomsburg from Erie County, Pennsylvania with his family to start a new life. He erected a sawmill on which he continued to operate until 1840 when he sold it to George Washington Forbes for $1,000 dollars.
