The Bloomsburg Volunteer Fire Company was organized on December 1, 1827. The first fire in the area was fought at the millrace on February 14, 1828. The company held its first meeting on March 14, 1828. In 1840, the company purchased a small blacksmith shop and set up shop there. In 1851, they also bought a sawmill and continued to operate that until 1951. In 1865, the company built a new store and clubhouse which still stands today. They also donated land for a public park in 1913.
Bloomsburg is a small town in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,101 at the 2010 census. Bloomsburg is part of the Harrisburg-Lancaster-York metropolitan area. It is adjacent to Lancaster and York counties. The first person to settle in Bloomsburg was Nicholas Botkin in 1795. He built a log cabin on the banks of the Monongahela River. Botkin's grandson, James Botkin, started a gristmill here in 1825 and also operated a sawmill and blacksmith shop. The townsite was platted as Bloomsburg by John Dickson in 1827; he named it for his father-in-law, Elijah Bloomfield of Allentown, Pennsylvania. In 1829, George Washington Carver moved to Bloomsburg from rural Delaware Township and began operations of what would become one of America's largest vegetable farmers. Carver's products included cornmeal and flour that were sold throughout eastern Pennsylvania and parts of Delaware County until Walters grain elevator became operational in 1937 (now known as the Harry S Truman Presidential Library & Museum). In addition to his vegetable farm operation, Carver also operated two stores (one on Main Street square) which remain open today as anchor businesses in an otherwise small town; he donated them to the town along with other property worth $2 million during its incorporation into a borough status on November 3rd 1959 (he had also been honorary mayor since 1924). In 1951, following recommendations by then Borough President Julius Simon Jr., who spearheaded efforts for annexation of neighboring Williams Township due to growing problems within that township—including littering problems—the Borough Council voted 3-1 to annex Bloomsburg into its jurisdiction as part of efforts to improve policing efficiency within the boroughs; this annexation ultimately led to increased investment by both municipalities in infrastructure development over time leading up to their current combined form as City Of Bloomsburg/Essex County on May 1st 2014!

Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania is a town in Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 23,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Bloomingdale and nearby Allentown are two other large settlements in Erie County. The first European settlers arrived in what is now Bloomsburg in 1794 from Huntingdon Township, England. They were farmers and built a small log cabin on the site of today's bloomingdale Elementary School which still stands today. In 1810 John Fenton purchased land northeast of present-day bloomingdale and laid out a village on it named after himself - "Fentonville". The original village had only 10 houses and lay within present day bloomingdale and Allentown township - but it soon grew to several hundred residents. In 1825 Bloomsburg became an independent municipality with its own government under the direction of aldermen who were elected by vote from districts (the current form of municipal government). On July 1, 1846, when Erie County was created, Bloomstown became part of it as well - becoming one of the oldest municipalities west of Allegheny Mountains. On December 6th 1912, during World War I US forces bombed German military targets deep inside Austrian territory near Carinthia (now Slovenia), leading to heavy damage to homes in Bloomstown and adjacent communities including Carinthia Heights (now Prešov) and Villa Graziosa (now Rastislava). Many Of these homes remain standing today as part of local Historical Landmarks District #2
