Ammunition has a long and varied history in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. In the early 1800s, rudimentary firearms were used toheast of present-day Bloomsburg. shotgun shells and rifle bullets were both developed in this area. By 1820, small arms ammunition had become an important part of the local militia. In 1875, the first commercial ammunition store was established in Bloomsburg by J.W. McConnell and Wm. Hickey. The following year saw the opening of the first all-steel magazine manufacturing plant in America, located in nearby Yorkville. By 1910, gun powder and shot production had moved to adjacent Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania; however, blast furnaces continued to be used for munitions production until 1927. During World War I (1914-18), Bloomsburg became one of several communities within easy reach of military installations on bases along the East Coast that supplied munitions to Allied soldiers fighting on various fronts around the world; during World War II (1939-45), munitions production recommenced at what is now known as McConnell’s Factory thanks to new technology which led to increased efficiency and output rates across all product lines including artillery ballistics warfare equipment Today, there are three major industries that produce ammunition out of Bloomsburg: Munitions Manufacturing Company (MMCo), Western Arms Corporation (WACOM), and Hornady Ammunition Corporation (HORNADY). MMCo is a subsidiary of Hornady Holding Corporation which markets its products worldwide under multiple brand names including American Eagle Ammunition®, Winchester Repeating Arms®, Remington 8mm® Cartridge®, .50 BMG Rifle Rounds(), etc.; WACOM produces reloading supplies and parts for pistols and shotguns; while Hornady Ammunition Corporation manufactures high quality rounds for use with handguns/rifles/ammunitions vehicles such as handgun rounds for law enforcement/firearms training/, antitank rounds/missile warheads/, etc., making it one of America’s largest ammo manufacturers outside of larger defense contractors like Raytheon Co., Lockheed Martin Corp., ATK Inc., etc

The township was formed on March 25, 1853 from parts of Huntingdon Township and Northumberland Township. On July 1, 1888 it absorbed the adjoining town of Ambler to the south and east. Bloomsburg is bordered byReading to the north, Ambler to the east (along Interstate 86), and Lebanon Township to the south-southwest. In 1611, Dutchman Johan de Witt created a cannon that could fire small shot called “volleys” which were effective against swarms of flies. During World War I (1914-1918), different types and sizes of cartridges were developed for use in guns and grenades. These cartridges included Winchester rounds designed for trench warfare and machine gun fire; German rounds designed for use in submarines; Italian rounds for shotguns; British rounds for rifles; French rounds for pistols; and American round designations like “5mm Automatic Rifle” (or .45 ACP). Each cartridge had its own advantages over those preceding it in terms of firing speed, accuracy, firepower, and range. In 1921, shotgun manufacturer Browning began marketing what became known as the Browning Hi-Power rifle cartridge with a velocity over 1 million feet per second (500 meters per second). This cartridge enabled shooters to hit targets at distances up to 100 yards (91 meters). The importance of this new caliber was realized during World War II when large quantities of artillery shells were needed to destruction enemy positions across entire countries like Japan or Germany. By 1948, all major firearms manufacturers had introduced their own version or variations on the .50BMG caliber shell carrying bullet that could kill an entire battalion at close range without causing collateral damage or friendly fire incidents

Bloomsburg is a town in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 9,512 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Reading, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bloomsburg was founded in 1768 by John bloom and his wife Susannah Bloom. The name "Bloomberg" was given to the community because of the large number of blooming flowers that could be found near their farmstead. In 1847, when Philadelphia became an incorporated city, Bloomberg erected a stone building which now functions as a public library. Timothy Bloomfield ran the market here until 1865 when he sold it to George Washington Smith who operated it until 1876. After that time it reverted to being run by the townspeople until it was taken over by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1903. During World War II Bloomsburg served as headquarters for Third Army Corps during its drive into Germany and also played an important role in helping build airfields there such as Hahnemünde and Pillnitz Air Base.

The town's growth continued through the years with waves of immigrants coming to work in the local farms and businesses. During World War II, Bloomsburg saw heavy military activity as it served as an important base for the Allies during the war effort. After the war, Bloomsburg grew more progressively suburban until its current form emerged in the late 1960s when a large industrial park was built nearby. Today,Bloomsburg is a small city with several thousand residents and is home to several colleges and universities including Penn State University, Duquesne University and La Salle University.
