Bethel Park is a small town in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 4,900 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Bethel Park was first settled in 1785 by John Gamble and his family from Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The name "Bethel" (Hebrew: בּטֶל־ה) means "place of meeting." The area now known as Bethel Park was originally part of what is now Berks County. In 1785, John Gamble founded a farmstead called Goshen on the north side of Mill Creek near present-day Huntingdon Avenue and Huntingdon Road. In 1824 he sold his land to David Morton who built a gristmill on the east side of Mill Creek. In 1828, Joseph Pennock purchased land adjoining Gamble's farmstead and started farming there also. Pennock Nameake School was established in 1855 on site of Gamble's barn which still stands today as a functioning schoolhouse. Today's shopping mall located off I-95 southbound Exit 20 serves as the main attraction for residents in this rural community that has retained much of its pioneer character since 1800s when it was home to only about 400 people

In fact, BAR actually predates modern pistols by over 200 years!

Bethel Park is a small town in McKean County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It was named after Bethel Chapel and first settled by Methodists in the 1830s. The community later became a Lutheran congregation and now has a population of around 350 people. The first settlers to Bethel Park were Methodist ministers who founded the chapel there in 1832. They called it "Bethel." After years of growth and development, the original white residents of Bethel Park moved out in 1881 when railroad construction reached the town. The black residents of Bethel Park came about ten years later when they built their own homes on land that once belonged to the white townsfolk. In 1952, Bethel Park became an all-black township due to efforts by the local board of trustees. Bethel Park is located at (39.930385, -75.923859). According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , all land. As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,792 people, 653 households, and 464 families residing in the township. The population density was 26 people per square mile (10/km²). There were 712 housing units at an average density of 12 per square mile (5/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98% White; 0% African American; 0% Native American; 0% Asian; 0% from other races; and 2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latinoof any race were 1%ofthe population
Bethel Park was founded in 1795 by Reverend John Bethel and his wife Deborah. The area now includes the towns of Homestead, Mifflinburg, and Clearfield. In 1815, the first school in what is now Bethel Park was built. The town grew rapidly during the 19th century and by 1870, it had a population of over 1,000 people. The town's growth stopped around 1920 because of the Panic of 1907.
